I don't know if these guys faced eachother in college, but it will be interesting to see the 2 highly drafted rookies, who some considered undeserving of such high picks, battle it out this Sunday.

I see Brick coming away with the better performance during the game, considering that he really has held his own against some great DEs this season so far, and Mario hasn't been much to write home about....I hope he totally dominates/embarrasses the guy...

Brick has not been much to write home about at all either. If anything, Williams has been the more impressive of the two. From what I have seen of Williams, there has not been a time where he looks like a rookie out there, regardless of sack numbers (I think he has 3) he looks like he belongs out there. I am impressed with his massive size every time I see him out there. Both of these are things that I can not say about Brick. He does look like a rookie at times out there and his size is less than impressive. The jury will still be out for a couple years to see who is a better pro, but so far I feel that Mario is the better player through ten games.

Mario and Brick have both had their rookie moments. Highlight shows seem to breakdown Mario's performance almost every week and he had his share of rookie moments.

I think that both players are playing at about the level their teams expected and should only get better.

mario and brick played against each other, because NC state and VIrginia are both ACC so they met up at least once.

They both started since their freshmen year, so they met up at least 3 times.

If the Jets play 50 offensive snaps, and Brick wins 49 of 50 against Mario, then Brick still looses b/c all we will talk about is the huge sack Mario got against Brick. We won't talk about the other 49 times Brick planted Mario firmly into the mud.

  7. I'm not sure where you come up w/ that. Our O-line has been extremely good in pass protection most of this year, and not only does D-brick play the toughest position for that aspect but he also was brought in to do just that. Where do you get he hasnt performmed well?

Hi Kurt! How are you, man?

Fellas, D'Brick has performed extremely well this year. He's taken on, week after week, people who, in some instances, are pro-bowlers (or are headed there) and he's done it optimistically, enthusiastically, without complaints, malfunction or injury. It can be argued Mangold was the better "find" only because he's more than we (or anyone else) projected him at at #29, but no one should make the mistake of thinking that D'Brickashaw isn't an extreme value to this team. We did the right thing and no one can take that away from us.

Beware of those who speak with uninformed, forked tongue...

OMG QFT. I for the life of me do not understand the complete brain dead, stroke victim morons that continually whine/darkside about Ferguson. He has been a rock on that side of the line. He has been steadily improving every week. Maybe they are getting him confused with Clement or something.

nope. they've only played once, when Mario Williams was a rookie and D'Brick was a sophmore. Mario did nothing that game, and thats the season i think D'Brick didnt give up a sack.

  11. Good to hear from ya man!

Well put as always. Here's to another BBQ at Tbird's after TC next summer!

Im more worried about the Houston wr/ Jet cb match ups.

  13. We're gonna blitz the hell out of them and see how their traditionally fringe OL handles Rhodes, D rob, Barton and Co.

Yeah, I expect to see some of that. The one problem is you leave 1 on 1 matchups in the passing game when that happens. I can definitely see A.Johnson abusing whoever we start on him. Hope the blitz gets there in time to prevent any big plays. Also Carr is a pretty athletic guy, I ve seen him move well in and out of the pocket.

Agreed. What I'm waiting for is the "we should have drafted [insert player name here] and waited to draft marcus mcneil" who is doing spendidly for the chargers, in the second round.

Thats like every team that picked a safety prior to Kerry Rhodes saying "we should have waited and drafted Rhodes in the 4th"

As if it were intuitive on draft day they would be so successful.

Truth of the matter- D'Brick was universally assessed as the best left tackle in the draft and his and talent warranted the #4 pick. And, he has certainly earned his paycheck. Few, but not many, rookie mistakes and a definite upgrade at L tackle for us.

Derti, have you been watching the NEW YORK Jets this year? Brick has been quite consistent and that's a good thing. Outside of few dumb rookie penalties and mistakes, he has held his own and effectively shut down the left side for the better part of each game.

How do you justify saying that he's "not much to write home about?" There must be some glaring things that you've picked up on, yet the rest of us don't see....

I think Brick has been way better....waaaaaay better. I don't even know if I would call Brick's mistakes "rookie moments" because there are vets doing the same wrong things Brick has done, and doing them more often. In my opinion, Ferguson is already an above average tackle, who would be an upgrade to a good number of current starting LTs in the NFL.

How about we blitz VIlma so that he can put up some stats and help my fantasy team, and so that people will shut up about him being too small and over-rated....
