Every week we seem to be starting Dyson and Coleman.

Does anyone have any idea what is going on with Barrett, cause I for one who love to see him start over Coleman. I like Coleman, and think he can be a serviceable player for us, however, right now seems a bit too raw, and is consistently picked on.

Not sure what's going on right now, I just know that I don't like it very much. An elite CB is something this team hasn't seen in some time, and I would hope that we address it before the end of the first day in the '07 draft.
I see Coleman as a bandaid on a growing wound, and don't see any of the others as being qualified enough to step up their game.

I'd rather see Justin Miller in there than Drew Coleman. Mangini obviously has a better evaluation of the two, but at least Miller has the speed and i've seen him make some nice contact on his tackles. (not that that says much).

I"ve heard whispers that Barrett has been nursing a lingering injury the entire season. I have noticed myself that the guy does apear to be limping after plays. He is much better than Coleman and Miller at the #2 spot, which is unfortunate.

I don't know why people rip our corners so much. I think our secondary is solid all around. Maybe if we had a consistent passrush it wouldn't seem like they're giving up so many big plays. I think Dyson has been very good, Miller inconsistent but okay, and Coleman has done pretty well for a rookie starting. Barrett solid at the nickel too. I don't see this position as a major problem, but a passrush would help them out alot.

The lack of a pass rush until the past two games was a result of Sutton needing to cover for the secondary. There was an article about the rise of Bryan Thomas a few weeks back that specifically mentioned that the Jets weren't blitzing to protect the secondary. In the 3-4 the pass rush is typically going to come when you blitz a LB. Three man rushes typically don't generate much of a pass rush.

As for the Jets secondary, obviously Rhodes is playing very well and Erik Coleman has been at least average since he got his job back. Dyson and Barrett would good starting CBs if they could stay healthy. The fact that the Jets have had to play Drew Coleman and Miller significant minutes has been a real detriment to the team.

I think our defensive backfield is average in NFL standards. I just wish Barrett would be playing more, and he seems to be the forgotten man in this defense, whether that is a result of injuries or not.

We definitly have bigger need than CB, but the Barrett issue seems to be forgotten in the papers and media.

Me either. It never seems like any good corners come out of the first round, and they haven't in the last few years...

The secondary is allright. Any nfl team if they don't get to the qb in 3-4 seconds is not going to be able to stop the pass. As we've seen the last 2.5 games our secondary looks much better when are blitzing. The Coleman play sucked but that wasn't bad coverage he just slipped, that stuff happens. It just happened that it was a blitz and there was no safety help behind him. Could happen to any cornerback. Obviously in that situation if your the cornerback your first goal is to make sure the wr doesn't get behind you.
