I appreciate the enthusiasm but not buying it. There's always optimism during camp. Need to see them in pads in real games.
Without a doubt, the best Post I've read concerning this 2017 team, just one line I would add, we need to find out that we have a offensive coordinator that runs a offense to score and not worry for 59 minutes to not make a mistake
If you wait until you see our team is in 'real games' then you're just a band wagon jumper (see Pats fans). Have a little faith and get on the bus NOW!!! you'll get the best seats
only cause they're coming off "Shark Week" . : ) . now they return to that dumb-ass "Naked & Afraid" shit lol fyi - https://www.nytimes.com/2017/07/31/business/dealbook/discovery-scripps-acquire-viacom.html
You can be a life long fan without blindly proclaiming some pie in the sky outcome to a season most know is probably going to be ugly record wise. Being realistic about your team doesn't make you a band wagoner, it makes you a realist.
I'd temper your expectations a little bit. There's no way this team is winning 9, 10 or 11 games like previous squads from 2000-2016, barring Hackenberg becoming an elite QB. Even then it will be difficult due to the lack of talent on the offensive side of the ball, but hey, here's hoping. I however do not believe we will be historically bad like many have predicted. I see a 4-7 win team.
This team has the feel of going into 2006 for me. Everyone thinks they will be all kinds of bad. 10-6 playoff run wouldn't surprise me at all if Hack is our guy. Defense has the potential to be scary good if they stay healthy. And the offense sounds motivated to prove people wrong. I'm on board.
we won 8 games geno's rookie year. we won 10 games with Fitz playing on one leg. we can easily win 9 games this year if Hack plays like a typical sophomore QB.
Our OL has a lot more question marks this season than those 2 that you mentioned. A 6 win season with good growth from Hack should be looked on as having been pretty successful. Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk
I won't judge them just by their record. Rather, I want to see team growth, player development, organization and "compete." Last year the team was largely rudderless, drifting aimlessly, players all on different pages - mostly their own. With Bowles still at the HC, I don't know how that's going to improve, but it has to. Maybe an improved attitude from a new, younger talent pool will drive that. I have no other reason to believe they'll play better as a team, I just know they have to. The defensive backfield was like lost ducks in a thunderstorm. LB's were cancelling gaps on passing plays. The D line played like "Why bother?" The offense also had the "Why bother? The D will just give it back" look on from about game 3. And we had RB's put their heads down and run into holes that were rarely there, almost never bounced outside despite wide open spaces there. It was like the defenses knew they wouldn't. Receivers ran straight into coverages (yeah, the QB often held the ball too long). And again. And again. I want to see them play, instead, like they understand the game at a higher than "just put your head down and do as you're told." I want to see them play in a way that makes me want to watch them again next week, and I rarely saw that last year. C'mon men, it's gotta be better.
I really don't get posts like this. Is Jets discussion here based on just posting what I feel like at this particular time of the day in spite of having nothing of substance to back up my claim? This is like reading stuff from a bunch of kids going to their first football game.
2013 was a cake schedule with a lot of smoke and mirrors. What is a "typical sophomore QB" ?? Every 2nd year QB who has never taken a Regular Season snap can take an offense with very little experience/talent to a winning season? Never knew that before.
