Agreed. I don't agree with taking a QB for taking one. Lets see what Hack and Petty have with a fair chance at the starting job before bringing on another project QB unless you really like him. Again, just adding one to add one makes no sense.
Me too. And don't forget: we can apend the gazillion $ in free money for more Safeties and WR's next year!
Well you know McCown and Hackenberg are going to be on the roster. Any QB they draft is competition for Petty, who's our supposed #2.
Not really. We have a second rounder who has not yet played a regular season snap. We also have a QB who showed a glimpse of promise before getting injured behind one of the worst o-line's in history. We also have a journeyman QB who has started for many other teams.
And you were worried Leggett would be gone mid fourth! In all seriousness this is a great pick in the 5th. Could start day 1.
He easily could have been gone by the mid 4th. It was not worth the risk imo. I saw him play a lot, and really like him. He doesn't have the talent of Howard or Njoku and probably not even Shaheen, but he was a TE I thought could help the Jets alot, and thought he would be a good add in the 3rd round. It is a great pick in the 5th, however. He definitely could start.
With 4-5 picks, it doesn't hurt. Maybe you strike gold. But I just don't see a high upside, project QB right now on the board.
