Forgive me, but some of the presumptions, assumptions and wishes by some of you guys regarding the QB situation is driving me crazy.
1- Some want McCown to start so we can loose the most games and get the first draft pick. Wishful crazy thinking. That IMO is the worst possible scenario. It presupposes that neither Hack nor Petty are ready or will ever be ready so we are royally fucked future wise and we might not even sniff the first round pick to boot. NFL teams do not fuckng tank for a pick. And if anything this team has pride. We have more than enough talent not to tank. Even if we did we have no clue as to what will be the no shit QB crop in 2018. A lot can happen in one year.
2- Fact is the best possible scenario is either Hack and or Petty take hold of this team and one becomes the making of a franchise QB. Even better f both become good enough and we trade one next year. Then we can pour our total energy building a team around him and fuck all future talk about tanking.
3- The overriding fact is that if all fails this year, and we embarass ourselves into the number one pick, it guarantees nothing but hard times folks. There is no freaking Andrew Luck waiting at our footsteps in 2018....far from it.
4- We better hope and pray we find our QB this year. Ther are no magical guarantees for the first pick in 2018 or any other year for that matter. It's about luck and a GM with strong football knowledge and damned good coaching. Tanking be damned.

The fact that we have 12 pages on a scrub QB signing proves some things

    1. We are a passionate fan base
    2. The ownership has mismanaged this franchise too long
    3. Fans have been fucked royally for decades

This is just a sport. An insignificant pastime. A way to rob people of their hard earned money.

I'm begging everyone to not buy tickets

    Let this dumpster burn

    Mediocrity will not be tolerated.

We are the best city in the world and we deserve better

    Tank it out. Rebuild right.

You will not get a single dollar from me until you fix this insanity

Could we send Leo Williams on an all expenses paid promotional tour around the world in 2017 during the season? Would be nice to guarantee not getting him hurt in a 2-14 season.

Mike "Greeny" Greenberg on the Mike & Mike Show seems to share my belief that the Jets will pick a quarterback with their 1st round pick at #6. Greenberg nailed it regarding last year's 2nd round pick, Christian Hackenburg...don't compound that mistake by passing on a quarterback this year.

Totally agree with that strategy for this draft. Would even move up if there's one of these guys I really liked better than the others.

Taking a quarterback at six that isn't worth the sixth pick is dumb and counterproductive.

Where you have them rated is subjective, i think the point is hack shouldn't stop them from taking one if they have one rated worthy of the pick.

or you could just trade him if your goal is to tank.

Flip him for a 2018 1st rounder. Then you help your 2017 tanking exercise and hedge your bets with 2 1st rounders in 2018 in case you still need to move up.

The Panthers took Jimmy Clause with a pick at the top of the 2nd round....... guess who they took the next year.

That I understand. But there's a contingency here, as always, that thinks if you don't take a QB with your first round pick, it's a bad pick.

Betting on Christian Hindenberg is betting that someone who was mediocre at the college level will become a star at the NFL level.

Yes and no. The reality is his time at Penn State had a lot of moving parts, a lot of different circumstances that resulted in him having an up and down college career. But, right now its pretty besides the point because the fact is he was selected with a 2nd round pick. The move to sign McCown signals to me at least that the Jets want to have an open competition for starter in 2017. More likely than not, Hakenberg will be starter at some point or another, and depending on how he does Jets will either suck so bad that they draft Darnold or Rosen or Hack plays well and 2018 starts to look great.

There is a lot unknown..... but I don't see any downside to Hack playing in 2017. You find out what he is or isn't, you may lose out and put yourself in position to draft really good QB prospects, or you get good QB play from a 2nd round pick and the outlook of your franchise instantly changes.

2017 is not what people should think about, its 2018 and beyond that Jets fans should really be looking at.

In economics and business decision-making, a sunk cost is a cost that has already been incurred and cannot be recovered. Sunk costs (also known as retrospective costs) are sometimes contrasted with prospective costs, which are future costs that may be incurred or changed if an action is taken. Christian Hackenberg is a SUNK COST.
