I also did not pay a lot of attention to CFB. I did a bit, nothing like the NFL. I just heard nothing but his name after the Rose Bowl.
I'm not saying he's a lock but if you watch Darnold play he has traits that should translate to the NFL. He moves in the pocket so instinctively, extends plays and finds his 3-4 read. I've been watching college QBs for years since the jets haven't had a franchise QB in my lifetime and Darnold looks so ligit. I told my wife that if our next kid is a boy we might have to name him Sam, she said no way so we'll see how this all plays out.
Sam looks all of that but at the same time a year can change how a qb is perceived. All the rage last year was tank for Watson....Well we're here a year later in position to draft Watson but now that looks like it's not gonna happen. The Jets really need to look at this year's qb long and hard because they may have their choice of any and not be so lucky next year... Imagine the devastation if Sam does not declare...What then suck for Sam in 2018 as well?
Like when NFL draft 2018 we will be having the same discussion when darnold comes back to Earth and nobody knows who we should take lol.

You wonder if they weren't able to secure the 1st and Darnold was there would Mac sell the farm to move up whatever number of picks to get him.
