Doesn't sound like you saw him play at all in 2016. I have the unfortunate task of watching all Cowboys games every year and he played pretty well last season, and then had his inevitable injury. I feel less wary about his ability to play than his ability to stay healthy for more than half a season.
Byz, I saw him play and there are plenty of cowboy fans that saw the same thing, when teams decided to throw and abandon the run, Claiborne did not make any major plays and the opposition moved the ball at will. These are post from Cowboy fans regarding Claiborne. TruthGrenade, on 16 Mar 2017 - 4:07 PM, said: Cliaborne to the Jets now too Seriously?!!? What is the plan? Rookies? Where is the pass rush? This defense is at an all time low. they both were average and replaceable..other than cars durability and just being there none of them were man to man in your face cover corners, tons of drives the last 4 years were nearly at will when the other team decided to just throw throw throw and had the guys to catch it..Nolan Carroll will be another MO, hopefully we get another VEt or hope Brown is good on the other side or Scandisk on the other side and brown in the slot plus the draft..
Hopefully Burris continues to progress, draft a corner, and Malik Hooker to go with Claiborne. Pryor goes back to playing closer to the football. Secondary would be in much better shape. Claiborne staying healthy is doubtful but worth a shot for a year.
I also hope this puts the CB at 6 talk to bed permanently? If Mac wastted the 6th overall on a GD CB I would have personally signed his own death warrant.
Sorry, I was copying and pasting conversations from Cowboys forum that saw the same thing I did when I watched the Cowboys. When teams decided to throw and abandon the run, they moved the ball at will, a healthy Claiborne did not make a difference. I get the signing and I'm on board with it, I hope Mac still addresses the CB position in the draft.
The Jets have now signed a guy let go by his last two teams in successive years, a guy suspended twice last season and a guy who cannot stay on the field reliably. What could possibly go wrong? All they need to do is blow the draft again and we're looking at a total blowout of HC and GM and likely the scouting dept (again.)
I guess we'll see this season, at least for a short while. But pasting the comments from a guy who thinks Orlando SCANDISK is a Dallas player isn't going to sway my opinion much.
I personally don't think Claiborne is part of the future plans in terms of building this team. I see him nothing more as a 1 year rental and if he stays healthy, he'll get us a nice comp pick. If they select Hooker or Foster @ 6, that first round pick is a good start to the draft.
Agreed mixed bag. He was tested quite a bit as they usually went his way over Carr .. in the end they both underperformed their expectations. This contract better have an on the field playing time clause and not base it off the games he did play last year.
I like him when he is healthy and I watch cowboys games problem is he is made of glass but maybe we are lucky and he lasts 10 games a season on average
Let's start a contract prediction game, I'll start. I say it's 2 years 13mil (though I hope it's 3 years @ 18mil)
