The fact that they won two games proves they weren't trying to lose intentionally.

Jay Cutler is Jeff George 2.0

Both have hall of fame arms but their arrogance and caviler attitude limited the growth. I want no part if this guy

Luck is more the exception than the rule. Also, if we're looking for a team to use as a model for success, there are better options than the Colts.

I don't mind taking a QB this year if we really believe one of them can be a franchise QB.....sign me up

As far as the rest of your post...The problem is there is literally no QB out there realistically that can take us to the playoffs and beyond....Once you get past that and accept it, the next logical choice is rolling the dice on the 2nd round QB of the future you drafted last season in Hack, Petty, or going with a rookie QB

Whoever wins the job I would love to see them light it up and the rest of the team play well this season....But if they happen to struggle as most very young and rebuilding teams do, that's fine too as long as we have a solid plan and foundation

The main reason for us going 6 years without the playoffs is us trying to half-ass the rebuild that's been long over due.....competitive rebuilds can get you as far as 2015 when EVERYTHING goes right and even then we missed out on the playoffs with the easiest schedule I've ever seen

Time to bite the bullet and let the young guns rip it. Cutler, McCown, Chase Daniel, etc etc etc do nothing for us this season and would hurt us long term

Indy only managed that b/c Peyton got hurt. And they've sucked the past 2 years b/c they haven't put a good team around him. Luck should be winning SB's already, but he's stuck on a team that can't draft or use FA properly.
Believe it or not, I actually agree with you. My thing is, I hate seeing people saying the Jets should intentionally tank this year. Man, you NEVER do that. Especially when the Jets can grab themselves a good young QB in THIS draft. Seriously, what's the difference between the QB's this year and next year? I don't see it. There have been only 3 true can't miss QB prospects the last 34 years; Elway, Peyton, and Luck (and they've all been great). You can't keep waiting around for that magical QB to come around. If you believe a guy can be that FQB and he's there, you take him. Period. Or you go after him like the Eagles and Rams did last year.

Now if the Jets decide to go with Petty/Hack this year? I'm all for that, too. We have to see what we have in these guys. Sink or swim. Hell, bring Geno back and make it a three way dance for the job. They really have no choice now.

I'm guessing a lot of posters on here forgot about Schotty's 5 WR curls, triple reverses, three receivers all next to each other, and throwing deep on 3 & 1. Gailey wasn't perfect but at least he could design plays and get people open.

You make some good points. I trust in Mac's abilities as a scout. Anderson was undrafted, Peake in the 7th, Shell in the 4th, Jenkins and Maudlin in the 3rd. There's some young talent on this team, but we need a lot more. BTW seeing Derek Carr on that list is funny. No way the Raiders let him even sniff FA. He'll be signed to a mega deal before Week 8.

From what I remember about Shotty and let me know if I'm wrong were all the damn draws on third down .. he did run a complicate offense per players .. random thought .. why does it seem everyone seems to underate or forget about Chad Pennington.

Exactly about Carr lol .. but you see that's what we lack .. consistently having talent at the no frills pay rate. Then when it's salary upgrade time, you have a young stud in waiting. It's a business and we can't keep all our vets. Like you posted .. Mac has picked some winners and he needs to really focus his staff on doing just that .. When you keep the stable deep .. contracts will not be steep.

You're thinking of the incredible Paul Hackett, the man who could design beautiful plays and create a damn good script, but when it came time to adjust on the fly, he was lost.

It would be a horrible move! All I can say is listen to Stephen A Smith on the subject of Cutler.

Why in the name of God would you want a rookie or young player to be mentored by Cutler?

If they sign him then this means the Jets are really stupid!

But, the problem is, in a rebuild, you don't want a band-aid. You want to bleed all over the floor until you have to undergo a long, grueling, and painful operation. If the operation works, you are fully restored and in business. If it doesn't, you will require another operation. rinse and repeat.

I actually do not care if they bring in Cutler. They are going nowhere, particularly in the next year or two. I would rather watch him than a Fitz or a Fitz clone. Fact is, the Fitzes make just as many mistakes as he does. And he scores more TDs. At least he has an arm that can throw people open. Fitz just hangs his receivers out to dry. I am tired of realizing all the lost yardage precipitated by Fiotz's failures in the area of timing and delivery. And as for whether he is a scumbag or not, anyone been keeping tbs ont he jets locker room under Bowles?

FWIW, Total Access did a segment on Cutler as a possible fit for the Jets. Both Michael Robinson and David Carr said that Cutler has a posturing problem in that he allows his body to reflect his inner disappointments and failures. Carr said Eli had that problem early in his career but fixed it. They said a QB has to be upbeat, positive and exert leadership even under the worst circumstances. Allowing negativity to filter into the bench and especially the huddle is a no-no for a QB and that's what Cutler does according to them.

Good point. Except the part where Eli has fixed it. He still does it and it is hilarious. Definitely one of Cutler's issues though.
