I don't think you can so directly quantify the impact to either team, but I feel confident that the Jets would've been much better WITH Snacks than without him. Using your example, how do you know he wouldn't have created more pressure - or enabled the other guys to create more pressure - which would've helped the pass coverage?
I was a huge proponent of letting Snacks walk and resigning Wilkerson last year. But in hindsight, we should have done the opposite. Richardson, Williams and Wilkerson are all on the same level. Our NT? Nowhere in the same stratosphere as Snacks. He would've been much cheaper and helped out our team more, I believe. It was just so hard to bet on Richardson, but at this point, trading Wilkerson for a 1st or 2nd would be much easier than Richardson who won't fetch back what he's worth because he's a fucktard.
It was evident watching. Snacks was a man among boys. Not only on the field, but you could see that in interviews and interactions on the Jets site and on SNY coverage, etc., and the road he traveled to get where he was showed what a tough indomitable dude he is. But on the field he was tremendous. He was taking on two, three guys AND was still a team leader in tackles. He was laterally all fucking over the line of scrimmage hash mark to hash mark. He wasn't a sack artist so some experts on here scoffed at the idea that Snacks was worth anything, and even had the balls to throw insults around for such an unknowledgeable notion....Lmao. It's neither here nor there now, and I just want the best guys, so it had nothing to do with favoritism for me. But Snacks is a perfect example of looking deeper at a guy and what they're worth. The circumstances did dictate to Mac too tho. Bottom line is Snacks was a Fucking Beast on the field last year, and a man's man, not a poser like a couple guys playing along side him.
2008 he was great no doubt, just wish he was healthy the other years as well. Could've really used him in that AFCCG against Pittsburgh
Mo was our best player that year, what should've happened is the Jets trade Sheldon. Snacks, great on 1st and second down, but didn't see the field on 3rd down. Jets could not get off the field on 3rd down. For 10M it wasn't worth it and the run defense didn't take a huge step back. It was the turnover differential and secondary. Hopefully Deon Simon can play the role as he came on late last year.
Umm who said anything about sacks? On passing downs he was absolutely non-effective and could not push the pocket back.
You sure? I don't think so.The D-Line as a whole didn't do as well, anywhere, after he left, including sack totals. The overall D performance speaks for itself. The fact that Snacks was snuffung shit all year created sack opportunities also. Deon Simon looks like he'll be a guy that can dig in at NT and do a good job. Snacks did far more than that, just sayin'. But Simon looks to be a good NT. I'm with that. I wanna see Sheldon and Mo this year get it done, with Simon doing a great job no less.
F_cking cupcakes?! Is that supposed to get him to come here? Why don't you drive him to Jersey and bath him in strippers! Jeez. Worked at Louisville.
The run defense was amazing with Snacks, but he played less then 50% of the snaps and a lot of those snaps were just first and 2nd down. He wasn't really creating sack opportunities for others. I like Snacks, and I wish he stayed too, but I don't think the Jets losing him was the cause of the Jets defense being total crap. I hope Simon does well, and the Jets trade Sheldon. Leonard Williams / Simon / Mo is pretty good.
the pats are like steelers/packers/etc. if you want too much $, they just let you walk. most players are a plug in to their proven systems. the hoodie can take jag and coach him up to be functionable plus, just wait until later and sign a vet at the minimum who can function at a much lower cap hit.
HAHAHA "Will NFL allow Patriots to match NY Jets offer of cupcakes to Dont'a Hightower by just showing Pats W/L record vs AFC East?"
How is that setting the bar low? It was his birthday. The Jets are trying to make him feel at home. You guys are ridiculous.
Bitching about cupcakes is a new low for this site and is further proof that certain people aren't happy unless they have something to bitch about.
Cupcakes on a Hightower heh Someone here will say it was not a cake with a bowl of cherries that's why he said no to offer,,SMH
I think the Jets can probably get Hightower for about 13-15 million. Is he really worth this? Probably not. But here are the reasons I think the Jets should sign him for the price mentioned anyway. 1.) He was the play caller and leader of the Patriots front 7. This is the type of player the Jets need badly to not only lead their defense but be a good example and mentor for the younger players. 2.) He is a good punishing linebacker. As many of you have said the Jets could use an ILB. 3.) By signing him you hurt the Patriots defense. The Patriots are sort of thin at Line backer right now without Hightower. 4.) Even if he doesn't sign, you will be driving up his price like many of you have pointed out. Now that I have pointed out a rosy picture of Hightower, here are the reasons you might not want him. 1.) He has been injured a lot, has suited up about 12 out of 16 games per year on average. 2.) Covering backs or receivers not one of his strong suites. 2.) The Patriots used him in 2/3 of their defensive sets. Maybe not an every down player. With all things considered, I still think this would be a good signing for the Jets
Ozy, your right, I got caught up in the article and I should have known better, it was ridiculous of me. My bad guys.
I don't want anything to do with any of the Patriot players to be honest. The Jets should not sign him and I really like Hightower as a player. Rather draft Reuben Foster instead. The far better Alabama linebacker that can do more on the field on a cheaper cap hit. However, I would like to think we drove up the price just a little bit. Besides, you jackasses would just draft one in the 4th and he would somehow come in and produce so I would rather see Hightower go back to the Pats on an expensive deal that could put a dent in your cap space.
