Jets 2015 to 2016: -6 wins and run defense goes from 2nd best to 11th best. Giants 2015 to 2016: +5 wins and run defense goes from 24th to 3rd best. I think there's a reasonable case to be made that Snacks had one of the largest impacts in the NFL last year and had a much larger than commonly recognized impact on the Jets defense while he was here.
Also helps to have a defensive player of the year candidate in Landon Collins who was Godly all season long for the Giants. However, the Giants with all that money spent still went 1 and done. Snacks did a great job for the Giants, but I highly doubt he was the reason why the Jets team fell off the cliff the next season. It was more-so having the worst turnover differential in the NFL at -20. The Giants had a -2 turnover differential.
While I like your idea, the problem we have with the talented linemen we have is they are not 4-3 linemen, we don't have JPP, Justin Tuck, Strahan. Those are guys are built for the 4-3, we have line men built for the 3-4, guys who are supposed to engage 2 olinemen and let the Linebackers do the work in the gaps. Jets are fortunate to have 3-4 dlinemen who at times can wreck havoc while engaging the linemen, but to send them exclusively after the QB it's not going to work, we need to draft quicker, more agile and lighter linemen if they want to be a true 4-3 team. That's another 2-3 years in the making, I don't think TB is going to be here that long.
Dont'a Hightower will sign with the Jets. Woody will tell Mac to make an offer Dont'a can't refuse...deal must be signed before he leaves.
Adam Schefter @AdamSchefter After visiting the NY Jets, Patriots free-agent LB Dont'a Hightower is scheduled to visit the Steelers, per source.
Adam Schefter @AdamSchefter Dont'a Hightower is scheduled to fly to Pittsburgh tonight. But storm also expected to hit New Jersey. So Mother Nature now figures into FA
we also had wilk coming off injury and had a bad year, and richardson who spent most of the season in the dog house and suspended at times. the giants also got a healthy JPP back and signed vernon as well spending like 200 million on their defense. It wasn't snacks alone. with that said, snacks is a great player who elevates the whole d-line with his play. PFF rated him as the top run stuffer in 2016, but they rated williams for us at number 2 in 2017 and williams rated as a better pass rusher then snacks. he was a luxury we couldn't afford, but truth be told, if i couuld do it again, i would cut richardson and kept snacks
Not always. The Pats D suffered for several years after they traded Seymour. He gambled when getting rid of Jones and Collins this year, and it almost came back to bite him in the ass in the SB with Atlanta scoring 28 points. He may find someone else to play, but that person won't be as good as Hightower.
Yep, there you go again. If you knew anything about football, you'd see Lee was quick getting to the ball and added much needed speed to our Lb corps. Yes, he needs work on shedding blocks and needs to improve his coverage and add some more muscle, that's a thing called PLAYER DEVELOPMENT. 95% of all rookies coming into the NFL need some type of development. There are very few Dan Marino's or Lawrence Taylor's who come in and dominate right away. Even the best WR (and arguably best player) of all time Jerry Rice needed an adjustment period. Again, you post garbage and again I have to educate you.
back on topic. is it worth it to throw all this money at hightower? it could be better spent on a CB IMO
Are you blaming the 6 extra losses on losing snacks? because it really looks like you are. now snacks may have helped the giants win more games then they would have if he hadn't signed but i done believe we would have been any better record wise had he stayed.unless he was going to stop teams from throwing deep and also keep fitz from being fitz.
The game in Nashville vs. the 10-0 Titans first came to mind--Jenks literally throwing Kevin Mawae back into Kerry Collin on more than one occasion. . Leon "I'm going to have a great game, I took two shits this morning!" Washington with a big game, Jets beat 'em going away to go to 8-3 and people are talking SB contender. Brett Farve then tears biceps tendon (or spits the bit, take your pick) and from that point on the only Jet throwing anything of note was Shaun Ellis in Seattle after the Jets lost to some backup QB bum in Seattle 13-3.
