My first thought when I heard this was: This reminds me of the Charlie Brown and Lucy routine where she promises she won't pull the ball away when he tries to kick it...it would be just like BB to get Jets fans wetting their pants at this great pick up, only to re-sign him and dash out hopes. My next thought was: What's wrong with Hightower? Does he have a fatal disease they just discovered? It's just not like BB to allow a high quality guy go. My LAST thought was: Well, if there's nothing wrong with him, except BB has his cheaper replacement already locked up and wants to shed salary, then why not sign him? He would definitely help the "D", not only physically, but his experience would be a big plus.
My thoughts are that his agent is engaging the last team that BB would not want a player of Hightower's calibre to go to. He's a very good player, and still young enough to be playing at a high level when the turnaround (hopefully) comes...
You continually state Lee played at 215-220 with no proof except you saying so. How is weight exaggerated at draft time? Did someone put a finger on the scale when he was on it at the combine? Lee needs to improve on some aspects of his game but that is an issue with many rookies.
He will leave the jets facility and sign shortly after with the Pats. Agent just trying to get leverage...
While the chances of getting him are slim, I think he would be a great center piece for our D and a shoe-in replacement for Harris. He is young enough to build a D around him.
Its revis all over again. The jets are bidding against themselves. If they want to give double what a players is worth he will be a jet. If not he will go to the team that wins more than 2 games next year.
Kimberley A. Martinā€¸Verified account @KMart_LI 8m8 minutes ago Source confirms Dont'a Hightower is in NJ + visiting the #Jets until tomorrow (as @JasonLaCanfora said) #patriots @NewsdaySports this is a little bit more serious than i anticipated
If the Jets pay Hightower $17M a year there is the potential that they will crush the Pats dynasty. Kraft, Belichik and Brady are going to laugh so hard over the signing that the odds are good one of them sprains a gizzard and drops dead.
I would lose my mind if we signed him for anything over 12 a year. I'd rather build through the draft
Our front seven is ranked 27 out of 32 without him... the pats is ranked 18 with him. Even though pff is flawed i dont think we are one signing away from being set for 4-5 years.
Their front 4 doesn't even begin to compare with ours in terms of talent. Last year was a down year (it happens), but our defensive line is still one of the best in football
well maybe if our secondary didn't allow WR to get open within 2 seconds of the play they would be ranked higher... our run defense was great and lets be honest the last half of the season everyone was half assing it MO wasn't even close to his best also our LB core is very young so give them time to come in there own our front 7 would be set if we sign him
