Once Fitz started playing like shit and he got benched, Marshall stopped trying. Can't have QBs develope if your #1 goes 45% effort
Marshall was able to draw double teams, which worked in 2015 because we had an equallty talented Decker. I think the best move with our Wideouts was to keep BMarsh and Decker for one more year to teach those young bulls how its done. If they get rid of Decker too and these young WR's dont pan out the way they should, we could go from one of the most promising core group to the absolute shits in a matter of 1 year. I personally dont see the upside to this move in terms of our younger guys development. But, they also could be going in a sink-or-swim direction, which we all know so well.
I just read they actually offered him an extension and he declined..he didn't wanna play for a rebuilding team..kinda shocked they actually offered him an extension.
I think that Marshall could have gotten us something in a trade. Now I am concerned that Decker's health issues will have this move biting us in the ass.
Does it really matter at this rate? I truly think Decker and Enunwa can hold the fort down just fine.
This needed to be done. Marshall was a talented player, but I'd rather the Jets sink or swim with their young core.
Part of me wants him to stay, but this is the right move. It ultimately didn't end well, but it was a joy watching him and Decker on this offense in 2015 after years of ineptitude. I hope he gets to see the playoffs with whatever team he lands with.
