In case you're wondering what Centralia PA looks like today.. This could be anyplace where extensive coal mining takes place. All those people moved.. All those homes demolished.. Yeah, we need more coal alright...

I've actually driven near there on Rte. 61. Didn't know it used to be a town. Looks more like just scrub brush and grass now.

From what I understand they have loudspeakers playing that classic 60s song by the Doors

Yep... They say it may burn another several hundred years. Anthracite has the highest energy capacity of any coal.

I've been there. It's only an hour and a half drive from me. Pretty neat though.

Your headline and statement are alternative facts, as reading your own link would reveal. The Ex-I'm Bank may have loaned the money for these projects but did so with environmentally sensitive restrictions. The enforcement of environmental regulations lies with the government where the projects exist.

Just pointing out how much ($$$$$$) the previous administration committed to fossil fuel projects, including coal; around the globe.

...And the "environmentally sensitive restrictions" ... were walked all over; without penalty or punishment.

As much as the cons enjoyed demonizing Obama, he wasn't a hard-core leftist. He was open to other points of view, as shown here. Which was a good thing to have in a president.
