I'm surprised. I thought they would hang onto him. But maybe it's just Step 1 in re-doing his contract?
That sucks. He's an all time favorite and Jet. But I'm also happy for him, and was hoping going into the offseason that this would happen for him and that he lands on a SB contender.... Other than NE
The Jets suck. 2017 is going to be miserable. Good luck to Coach Bowles and staff when all are fired at season's end.
Hey this is how you rebuild. It ain't gonna be pretty letting a great Jet go but for the money, he's just not worth it at that price. Will miss Mangold!
He might be back, this could just be a formality. If it's not, thank you Mangold for the great years of service.
It's tough for fans to watch a team suck complete ass and then start the next offseason by releasing the only good players they had left. Hope it works out in the long run, but still going to be an awful 2017. Thanks again to Nick, who is an all-time Jet. A true winner.
sucks to see Mangold go but hapy to see the orgainization is finally ready to rebuild from the bottom up. This means Harris gone too hopefully?
So between Mangold, Breno, Clady, and Folk, how much cap did the Jets clear ? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Wesley Johnson and Shell sure, but that's it. We have no LT on the roster and if Shell isn't the answer or one of Winters or Carpenter go down, it's gonna be an issue. Need more depth. Only problem is it's gonna take some extra cash to make anyone want to play for a team with no QB and no defense.
I wasn't surprised at all. The Jets are in rebuilding mode and while difficult to see Mangold leave, it was the right move for the future. Mangold and Brick were two awesome players drafted in Rd One 11 years ago, Mangini did something right selecting them. As I stated in a draft thread a few days ago, the Jets will probably stick with Wesley Johnson and draft and a center for backup/competition.
Don't quite get anyone who thinks "oh NOW we are gonna suck next year." Team is going to be horrible regardless of cuts. Time to start planning for the future
It's a sad day for me. Mangold was my favorite player at this point and a big part of the culture of the team. However it was also the right move for both parties. Mangold needs to go find a ring somewhere before he retires and the Jets really need to rebuild the offensive line. Thanks for all the hard work over the years and especially thanks for all the photobombs. They helped lighten the Jet's fans load. The odds on a guy from Ohio State becoming my favorite player were really low but Mangold pulled it off.
