Just saw Stump Mitchell was named the RB coach. Coached with Bowles in Arizona. Has worked with David Johnson, Shaun Alexander. Seems like a good hire. I'm expecting us to draft a running back this year. We will see how he coaches with the development of that running back.

If already posted please bump. Didn't see it posted.

Probably less injury prone than Forte, let him play

Realistically the position coaches were just the fall guys for 2016.

Marcel Shipp did a fine job with the RBs while he was here, but not a bad replacement.

Usually coordinators like to have a say in who their position coaches are. When Gailey retired, it was likely a lot of his staff would be replaced.

I remember him as a RB. He was pretty good. This sounds like a pretty good hire. Could the new assistants help Bowles keep his job? We'll see.

Hiring a new RB coach helps take some pressure off Bowels. I don't know if he's gonna be any better, just another cog in the wheels.

I liked Stump as a player - one of those underrated workmanlike players it's easy to respect.

I do not know if I am sold on our new assistant coaches but I am encouraged that they all seem to have a lot of experience.

While I still believe that Bowles should have been terminated at the end of the season his decision to replace many of his assistant coaches looks like a good idea.

I'm more concerned with who the QB coach is going to be .
    Oh and the QB too.

That's the trickiest and most important hire, but is probably the hardest, and where Bowles will fail big time.

I really, really would like for our own Chad Pennington to be given the opportunity. Smart as hell and extremely savvy at reading Ds

I wouldn't be opposed to giving Chad an opportunity as QB coach. He was very smart, limited physically but smart.

David Johnson was drafted in the 3rd round and no one expected him to be "this" good. His progression has been astonishing, and while the talent is undeniable you have to credit the staff for a good part of his success.

I think Stump will be able to help Fournette out just like he did DJ.

What about Powell? I love fournette, but it's definitely not our biggest need

DL wasn't our biggest need when we picked Leonard Williams. Clearly that's not the approach our FO takes with the draft.

If he shaved his forehead he'd look exactly like Darrell Revis (in 2 yrs).
