Is this going to be on tv anywhere live ? Where can I listen to it or watch it live and does anybody have a time ?,,,,,,,,cant wait for all the non answers and evasive answers
Apparently Alex Giamo and Eric Allen had made a video on jets site that mentions Macc is having his presser today and it will be streaming live on the site as well. As for the time I'm still trying to figure that out.
Thanks,,I am going to check SNY and see if anyone else moight have it..worst case ESPN RADIO might carry it
The press conferences are self-defeating for a team in a chaotic state of transition. Probably half of what the authority figure says is dismissed as self-serving bullshit and most of the other half is put in doubt due to competence issues. That leaves a very small percentage that actually helps the team in any realistic way. The only thing that almost all sources see as legitimate is the mea culpa part where the team and the individuals own up to their mistakes. That's where I would concentrate most of the information given. The interactive part isn't particularly helpful either unless the people being questioned are willing to answer every question on an open-ended basis until the questioners run out of energy and questions for them. Answer everything if you're going to a Q&A period. That way the intellectual dishonesty of putting words in your mouth is essentially defeated because you left nothing unanswered.
What could they possibly say that you'd believe and that would not be confirmatory of your established position that they're mostly clueless?
+10000 haha Mac is intelligent (I think) much more than Bowles so imo he will learn from his mistakes and winners he brought to the Jets Reporters will ask him about the millions down the toilet spent on Mevi$ Shitz and Wilkerson The GM is supposed to be the big picture guy so lets hear the BS.. OMG ..Bowles will be a topic as well Good Luck Mr Mac
We probably won't garner anything meaningful from this as Macc has always been tight lipped. But still want to see what he says
I just have to ask again, why is it important what he says? As you point out he generally doesn't say much. He doesn't have successes to point too at this point. He's unlikely to shoulder the blame for the makeup of the team this year nor for the decision to bring in so many late prime vets at a high cost. Really he can't say anything that would make you happy other than that a lot of it is his fault and he'll be learning from his mistakes so he doesn't repeat them in the future. He can't tell you what personnel moves he's going to make because that would be giving away a competitive advantage, in addition to which he doesn't know which moves he will ultimately decide to make. A lot of that is in the player's court when he goes to them looking to downsize cap numbers for next year and moving forward. He can't tell you how the coaching hires are going to go because that's in Bowles court. He can't tell you anything about Bowles status because that's in Woody Johnson's court and if he starts talking about coaching he's stepping out of his lane. Other than the obligatory gratuitous references to Bowles, which nobody will believe anyway. He can't even tell you what the Jets emphasis for next year will be because that's either in Woody Johnson's court or his brothers depending on the UK ambassadorship. The only thing he can tell you that would be impactful is that he screwed up and he's determined not to do that again, although even then he can't telegraph his moves in that regard because again he would be giving away a competitive advantage.
Sure, and you make great points. I did say that he can't really say much, but I am still interested to see what he says, if he says anything. We had a bad season, I would like to hear from two high ranking officials as a result, even if its not anything revealing
Woody presser not being streamed, live updates on Twitter. Quotes from presser - Woody said there is no mandate for Macc and Bowles to make playoffs in 2017. Second quote : I dont like mandates. They don't generally work I'm in the game of winning. Any time we don't win, I'm disappointed. I have confidence in Todd Bowles..I'm still very in his corner..I think he's going to get better, I'm happy to have him We're going to build the team through the draft. We'll use the draft primarily and FA/trades judiciously My hat's off to Darrelle. Great career ------Sounds to me like maybe he's retiring???? Woody on ambassadorship "Just speculation at this point" Woody said he likes Revis but his future will be up to Macc and Bowles. Woody Johnson : We have to show the fans we're going in the right direction. Says the way to build in the NFL is young, through the draft Woody on report of coach ripping Hackenberg : Maybe it was a small ocean? - Depends on which ocean Woody - I want to deliver to the audience something they want. Says the fans are the life-blood of the team I understand their anger, fans need to trust the process Woody on raising ticket prices - "probably won't" raise ticket prices Woody did not want to talk about ambassadorship Woody does not regret Fitz contract - says it seemed like the right move at the time Woody quote "I do think we have a young base of talent coming up. Stresses the need to continue that" Woody on Bowles and Macc - They will get this done in my opinion Woody believes that macc and bowles can deliver a super bowl, I'm not here to come in second place
Based on the tweets Woody Johnson's press conference has been effective. The punts are important and he hasn't given away any effective information about next year which is the right move. That gives Mac and Bowles the benefit of an open field to run on as they approach the 2017 season, with no mandates in place.
We're fans we want to hear what the General Manager has to say. It's his job to have press conferences, self-defeating or not. He will probably give a bunch of vague canned answers but its not life or death here its a football team and as fans of that football team we wanna see what he has to say
If Woody gave a playoff mandate I would have been pissed. Let Macc build this team, let Bowles learn from his mistakes and do his best to develop these young guys. 2018 should be the year we go for the playoffs.
When Bill Belichik gives a press conference it's like listening to FNN do an analysis of Corn Futures only Belichik will barely admit that Corn exists. That's what these things should be scripted like. If we're at all entertained by an end of season presser the Jets are doing them wrong. We should be thinking "snore..." when we see them scheduled.
Although he did not state a playoff mandate I'm sure Woody would can both next season if both don't bring the Jets to drastic improvement. But, we also have to think of it in a leverage/smart sense. If he said that there is mandate then it would mean they are goners next season, they would end up making panic moves, and it would scare away any viable offensive coordinators
