oh god, just no. wait... maybe?? I don't even know.. this team doesn't know what the fuck to do with 1sts, 2nds or 3rds. If we keep the first we could draft a defensive lineman, AGAIN. If we trade for the 2nd and 3rd we can draft a handful of guys that will be out of the league by 2019; choices, choices.

Really haven't heard his named called too much which is usually a good thing with OL players. If he could pan out to be a backup, even that would be helpful at this point. In addition to needing two starting tackles they also need to lock down the backup RT spot .At the moment I don't know if Qvale(the best of a really bad bunch) is that guy, maybe.

Carpenter and Winters are solid at Guard but then you need backups there as well. What center is/will be is up in the air with Mangold, but Johnson hasn't done a bad job and who knows with Dozier. Mac has his work cut out for him this offseason and the OL better be priories 1-3.

Obviously, you're too dumb to even understand what I'm saying, dumb shit. Drafting a fucking experimental QB does nothing to help this team in 2016. The Jets had holes all over the roster, they needed players that can contribute NOW, not maybe in 3 or 4 years. The entire scheme is beyond stupid. But obviously you know better. Do me a favor, please pull your head out of your ass.

Breno being gone is a huge plus in itself. It seems Shell has come along nicely and maybe a piece for next years starting offensive line....especially at the RT.

I remember reading here that the center who came in after Mangold went down played pretty well, all things considered. Is that correct?

And for crying out loud, since we never throw to the TE, can we not put him on the left side to help there?

And I just disproved your theory that there were plenty of players at the position you stated to contribute after Hackenberg was drafted you dumbfuck.

Left Tackle is the overwhelming problem. I don't know where we go to look for one. The FAs are not exactly what we should be looking for so we' lol probably reach and draft one in the top 10.

Our guards are set IMO . Winters is a FA who we must resign ! And Carpenter played well this season.

Center can use and upgrade. You have to assume Mangold is gone, and I'm not convinced that Johnson is an NFL starter. Quality centers can be had in rounds 3-5.

RT is a question mark. The reports on Brandon Shell after the last 2 games have been great so maybe between him and Qvalle we have a player.

Yeah and Wesley Johnson shouldered the blame for that play. The Center and QB work together in terms of calling the protections. Mangold for the most part called all of the protections for our previous QBs, maybe outside of Fitz. The line played much better with Fitz in there for the most part.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but from what I've seen, Fitz (because of his noodle arm) tends to throw the ball sooner, generally resulting in fewer sacks. So that's what makes his O-line appear to play better? The problem with that is that this practice relies on pre-snap reads, and smart defenders and DC's can disguise coverages and then jump the routes. He probably knows this because he's not stupid, but he just hasn't the arm strength to keep good defenses honest, and he saw a lot of good ones this year and they ate him. It's sort of like playing mixed slow-pitch, when the girls are up and the outfield all moves in..

You pretty much identified the reason why the O-Line plays better. It was the work at the LOS prior to the snap. Fitz identified the defense, and knew who the ball was going to. It was a lot of single reads which is why when you saw Fitz make more then 1 read he would struggle. That also leads to the ball coming out much faster. Teams caught up on that rather quickly, that's why the Jets need a QB that has the ability to go through reads without panicking or getting happy feet like a Bryce Petty. Fitz's arm absolutely limits the offense.

Finding someone in the 5th round (he's basically our 2017 4th round pick) who can see the field beyond special teams play is a HUGE plus.
Granted, its the end of the season, but Shell is getting valuable experience providing significant confidence for both him & the coaching staff. Thankfully, Breno is assuredly a goner. Credit to Mike Maccagnan on this one. People are knocking his 2016 draft, but his rookies are getting critical snaps & faring well. No one is talking Canton, Ohio here. We just want them to get some play. For me, the preliminary results are promising.

I wonder where Brent Qvale currently fits in on all of this.

So how'd he look against buffalo? If we have something here our OL might have a chance next year with some early picks in the draft

Shell has looked promising in his time on the field and honestly if there's a position coach who has done one hell of a job this season it is Steve Marshall, the o-line coach for the Jets. We had a lot of injuries and our backups did a fair job, and some excelled. Wesley Johnson, Brian Winters, Shell are all promising players.

Agreed. Karl dorrell WR coach was the other coach who did well.

After the Jets I am a long time Raiders Fan

So this kid being a Shell I already liked him

The fact that he is playing solid is gravy and says hes got the good genes

This post is spot on. The early reports on Brandon Shell are very promising. The truth is you cannot have an all pro at every single position. At this point the Jets just need to find good players and it appears they may have found a diamond in the rough.......draft a LT high...and get a replacement ready for Mangold. Carpenter is fine at LG and Winters has held his own so far......let those 5 grow together. This team needs to be rebuilt from the inside out and that's the correct way to do that IMO.....

Brent Qvale at the very least can provide some decent depth...

Yep two position coaches that did well despite the overwhelming negative circumstances. Unfortunately, I can't say the same about many other coaches.
