give me a break the kid has only played three games and he has showed that he can improve from game to game. If you watch the game and listen to Doug Flutie he said fat he thought that he had improved from last week and I agree. All the Jet fans that want instant success it's not going to happen even quarterbacks like Winston and Mariota and just about every quarterback coming into the league has had they're growing pains. The key for me is he played better in game 2 then 1 and better in game 3 than 2 that's showing progress I'm not ready to say he's going to be good great or otherwise but I am willing to give him a chance to prove himself
His learning curve is pretty steep but given the opportunity, I think the kid can do it. Question is, can he survive long enough to mature into a NFL QB... Not with this team or its oline or its present CS.
(Sung to the tune of John Lennon's "Give Peace a Chance") "Everybody's talking 'bout Folesism, Breesism, Cutlerism, Romoism, Glennonism this-ism, that-ism, is-m, is-m, is-m, All we are saying, is give Petty a chance. All we are saying, is give Petty a chance."
Great! Now I have that song running around in my head! At least that's better than flashes of Bowles stupid grin as he watches helplessly from the sidelines.
Oh. I thought he meant that Bowles's stupid grin was due to ear worms in his head! At least that would explain some things.
I thought good QBs were only true in fairy tales Meant for some other team but not for mine Woody was out to get me That's the way it seemed Disappointment haunted all of my dreams Then I saw his arm, now I'm a believer Not a trace, of doubt in my mind I'm in love, and I'm a believer I couldn't leave him if I tried
He's definitely improved and he's earned his spot for next year. But it'd be great to see him with an offensive line that can block instead of playing with their dicks for the whole game. I mean, the whole damn line forgets to block on one play and Petty is all, "Fuck it!" and just throws a deep ball for a catch while getting crushed.
Well, yesterday's game was a rub. Until we start seeing the number of positive plays significantly outnumber the negative one's, nothing in his game will improve. I think we might forget that he is throwing to first and second year receivers, outside of marshall; and a suspect O line.....so he has too get graded on somewhat of a curve.
it always strikes me as odd that people feel the need to attack or defend certain players. There is no "grading on a curve." It doesn't work that way. He either helps the team win or not. Some QBs help through ball control, other by gunslinging. He'll either start helping soon or he won't
So you discount the effect that the players around them have? Funny...I thought this was a team sport.
I don't discount it at all. He doesn't get to control who he plays with...how many QBs played with "bad" players then went on to have good, long careers? I'm sure good QBs don't make it in this league because of their supporting cast all the time. It unfortunate, but he has to make due with who he has..
