I think the newer movies get a bad rep. It's nice seeing the updated technology, and back story to Vader.

Ok, I'll admit, Natalie Portman was really hot.

That's as far as you'll go? Lol. How is the newest movie? Does it relate to the original movies much?

I don't want to ruin it for you, seriously.

My opinion is only that, watch the movies and when you are done, we can come back here and talk about it.

I would like to get your opinion after you have watched them all.

The movie Rogue One delivered for me on everything that I wanted. It is also very intense and has a excellent space battle.

Dark enough to be compared to Empire Strikes Back and the last 2 minutes are the most epic thing Ive seen in Star Wars lore

Rogue One was incredible. Gave me faith in Disney's ability to make a Star Wars movie after the disappointment of The Force Awakens.

I forgot to respond apparently. Or else maybe I did in another Star Wars thread.

Anyway, Rogue One is the only one I haven't seen. I don't understand all the hate for Force Awakens. I thought it was fantastic.

Not going to make a super long post, just going to give my order of best to worst.

Seriously though...If you are someone who LOVED A New Hope and Empire Strikes Back.

You will then love, almost everything about Rogue One. Its a Space film

Great to hear, going to see it on Christmas Day.

This is nothing against you Poe, I don't know why but I cannot accept the original being referred to as "A New Hope".
I know it says Episode IV A New Hope at the beginning scroll, but the movie was called Star Wars. It was advertised and billed as Star Wars and a generation grew up with it as Star Wars.

What if you're 28, and only know it as "A New Hope?"

Also, at what point did they start calling it that? When was the actual movie scroll at the beginning changed?

Really enjoyed Rogue One. Great action from start to finish. No slow parts. Introducing new characters and mixed in with some of our old nemesis's. Was pretty impressed with the homage to the original 3 Star Wars movies. What I can say without being a spoiler is that this is not a reboot. Once you see it you'll get it.

Go see the movie and if you're a Star Wars fan, you won't be dissapointed.

I understand, that is why I said it is me, for loads of people they have always known it as that.

When The Empire Strikes Back came out in 1980, it was Episode V in the opening scroll.
After Empire when the original was re-released into theaters, Episode IV - A New Hope was added, and it was with this that it was released on VHS.
Though, I really do not think it was really referred to as "A New Hope" until sometime when the prequels (I-III) were coming out.
So from 1977 until sometime after 1999 - it was simply Star Wars for those of us growing up seeing the first 3 in theaters.

This. The movies were never titled Episodes until the prequels, when Episode 1 went from being just the working title until an actual title was finalized to part of the actual title. Lucas then went back and retitled them all as episodes. A New Hope is not the title of the original film, though. It is Star Wars and I think Disney considers it as such as well.

The best thing they did with The Force Awakens is drop the episode numbers from the title.

    Interesting.
Maybe I'm in the minority, but I like just saying Episode whatever. 7, soon to be 8 full names gets to be a hand full. 6 was my favorite. 7 lived up to the hype. Etc. Makes it easy.

    My .02

Yeah im 30 so i missed the whole just episode number thing. My intro to star wars was when i saw the rerelease in the mid 90s. It was like a pandoras box of imagination opened up in my mind.

Gareth Edwards does justice here...i hope they get him to do more movies

He wants to do an Obi-Wan trilogy. I hope that happens.

That would really be great. I loved the acting of the charger in the previous movies, so I would be nervous about the casting though.

Tarkin and the end cameo both looked great.

In franchises like Star Wars it makes sense to do but it won't impact many other movies with an older or dead star arbitrarily "given" roles.
