The Star Ledger has one of their patented slide shows up examining this question. http://www.nj.com/jets/index.ssf/2016/12/which_jets_should_be_playing_these_final_4_games.html#8 In their typical fashion, it's only a cursory glance, and there isn't much analysis or explanation. The players they mention in order are: Bryce Petty Quincy Enunwa Wesley Johnson Leonard Williams Robby Anderson Darron Lee They said Enunwa because Petty and Enunwa have only hooked up for 2 receptions and the two need to develop chemistry. I agree and can't imagine anyone disagreeing. Regarding Johnson, they said that Nick Mangold re-injured his foot against the Colts. They said that the Jets' offense has been more productive with Johnson at Center. I agree with them regarding Johnson. I think he has played well and deserves to play. The Jets can determine whether he can be their starter next season and I don't think he'll get Petty killed. The Star Ledger also mentions that the Jets should allow Mangold to heal for next season, but seem to infer that they think that should be for another team due to the cap space they could gain. I can't disagree with that. The best teams aren't sentimental with their players. They cut them a year early rather than a year too late. The Jets would create over $9 million in cap space by cutting Mangold during the offseason. That could be used to help the team in several ways. Williams is one of the few players that's still playing hard on D. He had 10 tackles, a half sack, a TFL or two, and several pressures in the loss vs the Colts. Anderson needs the reps to work on his focus/hands and further develop chemistry with Petty. Lee deserves to play as well and needs the reps. I would add several names to that list. 3 TEs got reps vs the Colts. I would continue that, and give them more snaps than vs the Colts. ASJ should continue to get the majority of those snaps so the Jets can see if he can help them going forwards. I would bench Richardson, Revis and Mo Wilk for their lackluster play. I'd probably sit Giacomini in favor of Qvale. If Devin Smith is healthy, he'd play. If any of the youngsters on the PS has shown that they're anywhere near being ready to play, I'd strongly consider promoting them to the roster, activating and playing them.
they should all play with peake as well. i am not that impressed with anderson. he is very fragile. maybe he is a clowney practice clone. i think peake is stronger and needs to see the field. oh and i would extend enunwa ASAP. this boy is good and getting better. will allow us to rid of b. marshall.
Yes, I meant to mention Peake. He definitely should play more so that Petty and he can develop their chemistry, and so Peake can further develop.
All that you mentioned should definitely play. I like Enunwa's strength/speed combo but needs to hold onto the damn ball.
He has dropped roughy 2 balls all season long. 10x better than last year. He's made circus catches this season. Leave Enunwa alone.
He's had to have dropped more than 2 all year. I saw him drop an easy one the other night that would've resulted in a 1st down and a big gain. He's definitely better than last year but if he becomes more consistent then he can be very good.
Yeah, last night was 1 of the 2 I'm thinking of. Turns out he only has 3 all season. https://www.sportingcharts.com/nfl/stats/drops/2016/
I'll third that notion. He has the size, which you cant teach. And id like to see what happens if you run Q at the 1 and Peake at the 2 Don't bench revis, he doesnt deserve to get paid for doing nothing. He should be out there every snap for 2 reasons: 1. To ensure we keep a high draft slot 2. He deserves to be embarrassed each and every week
Too bad they can't just forfeit, that would at least ensure the right outcome in the biggest game of the season. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Brent Qvale should start at RT. We didnt stop hearing about how good he was during TC from the CS. He looked fine when he split the reps 50/50 w/Ijalana at RT during Breno Giacodogshits absence. Particular since Giacodogshits is a goner after this season anyway.
He's had more then that. They only constitute a drop if a receiver is basically wide open and flat out drops it. There's been other times where he has had it and the defender knocks it out or a high throw where he gets both hands on it but since it wasn't a routine catch, it's not counted as a drop. Same goes for Anderson. The guy has had more then 2 drops.
Where the hell is WR Devin Smith? I noted 2 articles over the past couple of weeks mentioning this. Both are very disturbing. http://www.ganggreennation.com/2016/11/6/13539830/ny-jets-what-lies-ahead-for-devin-smith http://www.ganggreennation.com/2016/12/1/13795604/ny-jets-whither-devin-smith
I 1000% disagree. You mean to tell me DB's have ripped the ball out of Enunwa's hands? Doubtful. This isn't Anderson we are talking about. In fact Enunwa has had the most reliable hands on the team BY FAR, and you still think he needs to get better at catching? I've watched every game this year and I can tell you Enunwa's hands have gotten WAY better than last season. He's been a stud this season. Like I said, 2 or 3 drops is all he has had this season. If you don't believe me please provide something that shows otherwise. This is also a direct quote from the side regarding their metric: "This statistic counts the number of times an intended receiver touches the ball but fails to catch it. If the ball is thrown but the receiver never gets his hands on it, it is not recorded as a drop. Lots of players put up big yardage but also drop a lot of passes, elite receivers put up the numbers and maintain a low drop percentage." Where did you get the bold from? Did you even look at the site?
Yeah, I want to see Petty with Anderson, Peake, and Smith all on the field. Let's stretch the field a little, please? And let's find out if these fast guys can do anything with a deep ball, finally? I want to see more ASJ, too, I think he has a chance to do something here. Also, I want to see a very healthy dose of Powell and now Khiry Robinson out of the backfield. Forte certainly deserves a fair shot to get to 1000 yards, but we need to see what these other guys can do. Guys I don't want to see playing: Revis Fitz Breno Wilk Sheldon I'd be okay with sitting Gilchrist, too, unless he's the only one who can call the right defensive plays.
If we want to get anything in a trade for Sheldon, gotta play him so teams can see what they could trade for.
Debbie Downer response: "What's the difference between drafting a crappy bust of a player with a 6th round provisional pick and drafting a crappy bust of a player with a 4th round pick from a trade?" You know Debbie Downer is right-- she's talking about these New York Jets.
Along with the players that were mentioned in the OP, I's like to see Burris and Simon get more reps.
