yea i know we have to take it 1 game at a time..... with that said we also have to look at the whole picture wich is atm we actually stand a chance wich just a few weeks ago everyone said we didnt have.... you guys keep bringing up chi next week but you are the same ones who thought we wer guna loose yesterday... yea newengland does have just as easy of a schedule so theyll prolly take the division and then either sandiego or denver will take the first wild card but the second is still up for grabs
Huge win for the entire franchise yesterday. All the experts thought we were 2nd worst team in the NFL and we already have 5 wins and are tied with 2 other teams for 6th best record in the AFC. I don't really care if we go to the playoffs or not because the Jets are heading in the right direction under a new coach and I don't really think it is a "superbowl" team. Defense really improved over the bye week. If we can continue playing like that and get the offense back on track, my view might change.
Its just that losses to the Bears, @Gb and @ vikes would not surprise me. Then, one other loss -- could happen.
quote: "I don't really think it is a superbowl team" i never said superbowl just playoffs we need a 100+ ypg back before thatll happen
The Vikings don't really scare me. They just lost consecutive games to the 49ers and Packers at home, and Brad Johnson hasn't been playing too well recently. Of course its on the road, and Minnesota is a tough place to play, so anything can happen. I think the Jets are more talented and better than the Vikings. The Packers scare me more than the Vikings do, especially in Lambeau, and if Favres on his game they have some offensive playmakers-Green, Driver, Jennings that can always keep them in the game. I think the Jets can win both of those games though.
That would be something if the Jets playoff hopes come down to that game. I'll sign for that right now. Imagine rooting for Herm to win that game to get the Jets to the playoffs?
The Browns are not as bad as their record. 1 Sun, Sep 10 New Orleans L 14-19 -3 0-1 Frye 132 Frye 44 Winslow 63 2 Sun, Sep 17 at Cincinnati L 17-34 10? 0-2 Frye 244 Droughns 32 Edwards 110 3 Sun, Sep 24 Baltimore L 14-15 7? 0-3 Frye 298 Wright 31 Edwards 116 4 Sun, Oct 1 at Oakland W 24-21 -1? 1-3 Frye 192 Droughns 100 Edwards 75 5 Sun, Oct 8 at Carolina L 12-20 8 1-4 Frye 173 Droughns 65 Winslow 55 6 BYE WEEK 7 Sun, Oct 22 Denver L 7-17 NL 1-5 Frye 149 Droughns 33 Jurevicius 40 8 Sun, Oct 29 NY Jets W 20-13 -1? 2-5 Frye 141 Droughns 125 Winslow 76 9 Sun, Nov 5 at San Diego L 25-32 13? 2-6 Frye 236 Droughns 36 Winslow 78 10 Sun, Nov 12 at Atlanta W 17-13 8 3-6 Frye 165 Droughns 54 Winslow 90 WK DATE OPPONENT The last three weeks they are 2-1 and they were in that SD game until beginning of the 4th qtr. The browns game was a letdown, we should have one that game but this game against the Pats gives us a new lease on the season. The gameplan was great, the D look good, and we actually put pressure on the QB. We have an easy schedule coming up(besides CHI) and we could actually run the table and go 11-5. I'm thinking 10-6 but either record probably gets us in the playoffs and after last season, that would be a miracle.
Jets aren't serious playoff contenders for one simple reason- They don't have a defense. NOw before you say the defense is coming on (going off yesterdays game) Yes there defense played very well yesterday, but the question I pose to you, was it the Jets defense or the Fact that Mangini was very familiar with the patriots offense(knows the weaknesses- having matchup every day in practice)? Lets see that defense do something this week against a real bad Bears offense, before you start thinking playoffs. Even though Jets have soft schedule down the stretch, there just as good a chance, that they lose those games, as they win those games.
I'll tell you, I didn't like the Jets chances of making the playoffs until you started making predictions that they wouldn't.. We all know how good you are at making predictions.. I like our chances..
Just remember My prediction that jets have no chance beating the raiders last game of the season. I Love the fact that alot of Jet fans are circling that down as a win. Well lets see C Pennington and Jets offense do anything against Raiders defense. You won't be seeing any soft zones.
I'm worried about a bunch of the so called easy games remaining on the Jets schedule.. The Raiders game is not one them though.
your argument really doesn't hold any water because Mangini having knowledge of the Pats certainly did little to help the Jets in week 2.....yesterday's performance I think can be attributed to the fact that they have improved a bit since then. As far as playoff contenders. ....of course they are, simply based on their record at this point.
I'll put that W down in ink... seriously though, as far as the rest of the Jet home games after Chicago, i'm certainly more worried about Houston and Buffalo
That fine now, but lets see if thats the case as the game approaches. Someone going to have some serious egg on their face and its not going to me. Think Pennington 2002 playoff performance against the raiders. Problem is that this Raiders defense poses many more problems for Pennington than that 2002 defense. ITS A BAD MATCHUP.
The Raiders play a completely different defense than back then. And hell, they can shut us out offensively for all I care. We'll score more defensively than you'll score offensively.
so you think it's more reliable to look back at 2002 as an indication as to what might happen this year? that's pretty funny i mean, jeez you guys were the tonic for the the Jets 7 game losing streak last season....but I guess that was because we had Bollinger in there instead of Pennington, huh? well, whatever, don't want to get ahead of myself, we have many games remaining before we get to that one.....
Okay you want to believe that but if you compare the stats of both games week two and week 10 , you find the numbers very similiar on defense. (both games). Brady did alot worse stat wise in week two compare to yesterday . Coincidence or is there any truth to what I said. Time will Tell. Again you can't get excited over one game. Lets see the jets defense do something against a Putrid Bears offense. Than tell me if they turned the corner. Jets finally beat a team with a winning record and alot of Jet fans expectations are going way up. YOU are not a playoff team. Mathematically you are, but like the dolphins last year, you really think this team is a Playoff caliber team.
and also how can you compare the 2002 raiders (who went to the superbowl) to there present 2-7 team??
