Not a fucking chance. They were cursed by their inability to do the job. Thirty-one other teams' lack of interest is the proof.
That ship has sailed. I don't think we would look the same at all, but he would have spent big last year like Mac did because he had to. If we do make changes at the end of the season I feel we have to keep Mac in position. Not because he's exempt from criticism but because you have to have some stability and it makes more sense to keep the guy who has a more long term vision of the roster in place and allow him to pick all the team under him before blowing it all up.
They were cursed by that CS's inability to train them. They had the raw talent (except maybe Boyd), but without proper training and development, it all went to waste. Just like our present crop of young Qb's killing their careers in Florham Pk. With our present bunch of Qb savants. This franchise is a young Qb killer. There is no doubt of that. Pennington was the only home grown competent Qb since OBrien worth a damn. strangely enough, over the entire history of this franchise, they have developed perhaps 4 Qb's since 1960.
"He's our starter," Bowles said. Bowles said he informed general manager Mike Maccagnan and the coaching staff of his decision on Monday morning, adding, "There was no debate." Asked if Maccagnan supported his choice, Bowles said simply, "Yep."
I don't really get it. What stability do you speak of? This was a roster built for two years and will be dismantled this offseason. There was no real long term vision. He signed aging veterans, stayed with the defensive mindset in the draft and we still have no quarterback and haven't gotten younger on the offensive line. He's also drafted three outside linebackers in the first six rounds of the past two years drafts, a quarterback that might not even have a chance at seeing the field til year three, a wide receiver whom should be cut next year and the one saving grace a good to great 3technique or 5i to pair with the other two we already have. Almost all of his free agent signings will be gone after this offseason except for Forte and then Carpenter and Skrine who both are average starters at best. Cro is gone, Clady, Revis, Gilchrist will all likely be gone. Maccagnan has honestly sucked. But I guess we might as well stick with him and Bowles for another season.
I have the strongest feeling that there gunna bring him back next year on a cheap deal to actually compete with petty for the starting job. that is if the coaching staff is still more or less the same, wich I'm sure it will be
