Sixpatrick is going to be our starting 2017 QB. Book it lol. Sixpatrick gives Bowles the best chance to not look like a dunce (in his book). We are gonna bring him back lol. It's gonna be hilarious. They are gonna build up the OL and secondary. Sixpatrick will look decent again against a shit schedule and it'll be 2015 all over again. They are gonna ride this veteran train until it can't run anymore. Keep Sixpatrick, Forte, Marshall, and Decker and try to make a push next season with a weaker schedule lol. Bowles isn't gonna risk going 6-10, 7-9, 8-8 with Petty or Hack. He would rather run with the shit head Sixpatrick and go 9-7, 10-6. All about his job, and not the future. The point is development, it should not matter where these guys are drafted unless they are automatic franchise QBs. The Rams and the Cowboys are developing their QBs. They are putting in game plans that have allowed them to get used to the speed of the game. If Petty was selected by Mac to be a career backup he should be fired, no GM should trade up for a career backup. Fitz played a lot from under center yesterday, that could be a way for the jets to get Petty comfortable. Get a TE in there and block away until he is comfortable, the games will be boring but at least it's helpful to Petty. They have 3 RB that can carry the load for the remainder of the season, they need to use what they have. I really don't want to see another under thrown pass from Fitz to a wide open receiver who has 5 yards on the defensive player, like he did with Spiller yesterday.
I don't know why they're going thru all this complete and total bullshit with these young Qb's. Just extend Fitz and be done since he's the gold standard around Jets HQ. I can see it now.. Another year for another $12mil. This franchise will never amount to anything in my lifetime. Just another run on the hamster wheel. Fuck it.... sign Fitz to a 5 year deal. Bowles can't risk not making the playoffs in his 3rd year. Fitz gave us "the best chance to win" this season. We had a hard schedule. Next year, against a weaker schedule, expectations will be higher. Bowles needs "the best chance to win" so he can try to save his job next season. He won't risk a mediocre year with a new QB. He's gonna ride the veterans to try to make the playoffs.

Because we want to see our young pass catchers and olineman develop behind a real NFL QB. The Jets already know that both Hackenberg and Petty are not the answer. Why spend the next five games exposing that fact to the rest of the league at the expense of the entire team?

From what I read earlier, Mac had no issues with this decision. I'll try and look for the source. While I understand Bowles rationale for starting Fitzpatrick, Mac being behind this move is pretty surprising. Unless he thinks he is GM'ing for his job and these last wins are really important. My guess is Mac does not want Hackenberg playing this year. I think that has been obvious from the night he was drafted. There is a chance that the coach and GM think that Bryce Petty is just a garbage QB.
