My question still stands. What will make the dark siders actual fans of the Jets? I can honestly say that I am a FAN of the Jets. They are my team through the good times (Yesterday) and the Bad times, (two weeks agao). Its just a question. Thats all. Is it a Superbowl? hey I am not knocking that notion. I am just wondering what it is going to take. So that when they Jets win one some day, we can all, together, say THATS MY FREAKING TEAM OUT THERE!!
I've said all along Pennington gets till after the Bears game. If he plays well and the Jets win then you've got to stick with him for the rest of the season. If he lays another egg it's Clemens time.
Where was this thread after the browns game? No such thing, because everybody has a bad day...I love chad, he is a great team player and i knew he had it in him all along, i was one of the only people i know that gave him a shot this year.
I have no crow to eat. I thought he was a top-5 quarterback in the league, and would certainly lead us to the playoffs. He breaks his hand. My hopes fade. He came back, I once again invested everything I had in him. He blew out his shoulder. My hopes fade again. He works his way back again, and this time he's stronger than ever. Nothing can stop the guy. I AGAIN put everything I have into Chad Pennington. His shoulder collapses again. My hopes once again fade. THIS time. . . .this time is certainly different. Has to be, right? I mean, it FEELS different, doesn't it? Bah. . . The moral of the story is that I will always be a fan of Chad Pennington, and I will always root for the guy to succeed, because HIS success is JETS' success. But, for all that I invested emotionally in the guy, only to have my hopes ripped away, I don't have to apologize to anyone for wanting to take one game at a time. I had to highlight the important part because, the risk you take on this board is people only reading the thread title and first line of each post. Matter of fact, I'm surprised YOU made it all the way down here. Carry on. . .
Some people thought the Jets would win 5 games tops this season. Some thought Pennington would never see the field and was done. No one thought the Jets would beat the Patriots. Pennington has led them to 5 wins including a huge win vs NE and a close loss to IND that was lost by the D.
So if Chad has a bad game against the (8-1) Bears with one of the best defenses in the league it is time for Clemens? Even though the team would be 5-5 with 6 winnable games to end the season? You are crazy.
The Jets are not going anywhere this year, I think we can at least all agree on that. I want to see what Clemens has got in games that actually mean something.
Silly Sally. The Jets have a legitimate shot of being a Playoff team this season. We have an easy schedule which estimates us at a 10-6 record. We're goin somehere. This isn't Arizona or Tennessee 3rd. Stop acting like we are. Kansas City Cincinnati Jacksonville Those three teams stand in our way. Not to mention we are only 1 game down from the Pats.
The playoffs would be nice but in the scheme of things it really doesn't matter. The Jets are not at a level where they can contend for a SB.
You're totally out of your mind. Chad is our QB and we're in the hunt. A loss to the best defense in the NFL isn't going to send me into a youth movement when everyone is breaking their ass to make the playoffs. TGG is the place to go if you want to feel like crap about your team after a huge win at New England, that's for sure.
The Jets are trying to make it to the SB. No matter how far a reach it seems that's the goal for every team every year. And it's not over till it's over. Right now my minds expecting Playoffs. Step into the light allready.
OMG! you couldn't be further from the truth. I know you've heard all the "talking heads" on TV say "In the NFL it's all about Parody" & "Any given Sunday" With our schedule and the toll of a long season on "powerhouse teams" we can make the play offs and shake things up. Why the hell not, we almost did it a few years ago. I mean hey, the Steelers won the SB last year and look at them now.... Discuss...
You can't win the Super Bowl without making the playoffs first. And a young team to get a taste of the playoffs can only be a good thing.
So we're clear, the benching wouldn't be a "youth movement" it would be because Pennington hasn't done much since a strong start to the season. The SB talk is patently ridiculous. The Jets would have to run a gauntlet of something like Baltimore, San Diego and Indy all on the road to make it.
Sorry, I can't agree with that. You honestly think we win at NE with a rookie QB? In the rain vs a Bellichick D?
Damn skippy. We're aren't about to have a high draft pick this season. I don't want to throw the season away just to play the rookies and have them learn the basics. This isn't Arizona with Lienart.
Benching Chad after a potentially bad Bears game is saying "WE GIVE UP ON THE 2006-07 SEASON" and right now at 5-4 with the remaining schedule I say your not only nuts but f@&in nuts.
I say we put Clemens in against the Bears. Then we won't have to listen to these posts anymore. A la he will get crushed and you will miss Chad rather quickly.
