I looked it up. It was a short pass to RB Crowell and he was tackled around the 5 yard line by Rontez & David Harris. 4th Quarter New York Jets continues ... 2-10-NYJ 18 (1:00) (No Huddle, Shotgun) 13-J.McCown pass short right to 34-I.Crowell to NYJ 2 for 16 yards (52-D.Harris; 45-R.Miles). Plus at the ~5 second mark at the bottom you can see there's only 54 seconds left in the 4th quarter.
I posted about it September 16 and referred to presser earlier in the week. if you have the patience to listen to bowles for the week it's likely his first presser after the game from the previous week
What? Skrine's had one bad game in getting some questionable holding calls against AZ and he's always step for step with the receiver. Teams don't need to throw at Skrine or Williams. They're having a ball picking apart Revis underneath as he hopes they don't try to make a move on him and lay down after he wraps them up. A former quarterback just burnt him on primarily stops and comebacks for 100 yards in a half. What games are you watching, dude?
Yes. Sorry I'm not jumping on your "Revis is the worst player ever" bandwagon. His coverage is tight, he doesn't leave anybody wide open, he doesn't get "toasted". He gives up catches, a lot of times we're talking about a couple of inches and he breaks those balls up. That's good coverage, but not good enough, like I said.
I haven't seen him break up a ball since last season. He gives up an exorbitant amount of catches. If you're fine accepting 10-15 yard comebacks for first down after first down as 'tight coverage' then you're a bit of an apologist.
Does anyone get a pro football focus subscription? I'd love to know his opposing qb rating stat this year. He has historically been very good in this stat. I'd bet he's doing very poorly this year.
I don't have a subscription, but on twitter: Since Darrelle Revis his worst QB Rating allowed was his rookie year at 87.5, this year he is allowing a QB Rating of 110.4. That was tweeted on October 28th. The Browns game, He gave up 10 catches on 16 targets for 122 yds. 85.9 QB rating. Credit - @PFF_MikeM Revis wasn't targeted yesterday if I recall.
yesterday the staff did a better job adjusting. Although they said in interviews Revis has still got it, they were smart enough to realize that wasn't true. Revis didn't follow Landry around all game. He played on one side all game against mostly Miami's number 2 in zone coverage. He did fine but that's what you usually ask a corner making league minimum to do, not your $17 million player. At least the staff though recognized he couldn't take on Landry and adjusted. Skrine played pretty well on Landry although he shoulda done a better job not letting that cocky bitch get under his skin. That 15 yard penalty on miami's opening drive hurt.
I think yesterday's game is the first time I saw Revis ever put in some effort to do anything on the field. He was still a complete non-factor. He will be getting cut next season, I don't even want to see him play as a FS. So not only is he slacking off the field, his leadership skills or lack there of is affecting the young players.
yeah he's absolutely done as a Jet after this season. Maccagnan or any other GM would have to be truly clueless to sign up for another year of this at $15 mill. 8 games, He's gone. I don't know if he will ever be a decent safety or not but he's not going to get that chance here. You don't pay $15 million for a player you are trying out at safety. He's guaranteed $6 million next season even if the Jets cut him but the NY Post reported the Jets can get some of that back if he signs with another team. For that reason I am hoping he plays well down the stretch so that some other team takes a chance on him in FA and we get some money back. win/win for everyone.
Absolutely, well again let's say thank you to Woody Johnson for being the essential x-factor in terms of this signing. Everything he touches, literally goes to shit.
Good read about the remaining financials.... The Jets arent as hosed as I thought theyd be, although I expect him to "retire" and collect 6mil while playing drums than go to another team for whatever he'd be offered. http://www.nj.com/jets/index.ssf/2016/11/will_jets_cut_darrelle_revis_after_2016_heres_why.html
To be fair to Revis, the rest of the league has had a hell of a difficult time stopping those dreaded connections of Case Keenum to Kenny Britt and Josh McCown to Terrelle Pryor SR. No idea why these teams would bench these superstar quarterbacks for rookies.
Everyone knows Revis is cooked/burnt...at this point. Except maybe Woody, but I'd imagine even he does, too. Time for a new position or a new career.
I'm too old! Such an excuse. I know it's PFF, but ... https://www.profootballfocus.com/pro-pff-midseason-all-pro-team/ Terrance Newman is 38. Allowing an average of just 7.9 yards per reception (best in the NFL) and fewer than 50 percent of passes thrown his way to be caught.
