Pryor has been better as of late...Revis out of shape ass and it shows. He looks like he's hurting just trying to walk to the WR before the snap.
Did pryor tell revis to play 10 yards off like a big pussy all season? If you don't see how bad revis is right now it's because you didn't watch him in his prime.
And he is crap against the run. i NEVER thought I would write this, but I am almost (not yet) to the point of suggesting (only just suggesting, not advocating) signing McDougle off the practice squad and play him instead of Revis. What DO we have to lose? I am not sure the jets have EVER had a CB play as soft as Revis. Reminds me of the way TEs torched former jets safety Eric Smith for years--just lay off them and try to make the tackle AFTER the completion. Yet, Rex trotted him out there week after week.
Folks. The consensus here is pretty obvious. 1- My hero GM got sold a bill of goods and screwed us royally with the signing of Revis. 2- He has gone from our #1 corner to the one that gets picked and torched the most. BB is laughing his ass off. Fuck it all, even the moribund Cromartie would at least bump and press the WR, get a flag rather than get torched for a ton of yardage 3- He has lost his speed, his position and his strength to tackle. He is a huge liability 4- Revis is for sure off the team next year but what the hell are we going to do with him now? $- Can he be moved to free safety and play our rookies more? Our secondary is rapidly becoming unwatchable, as its IMO the case for most of the team
I think the worst part you didn't mention is his lack of effort when it comes to tackling. Revis used to be the best tackling CB in the league.
I've seen Revis play since the beginning. I'm not for benching him. I believe his off-season preparation was messed up, and I'm willing to let him work his way back on the field.
I like our fs...revis isnt better than Gilcrest. Doesnt tackle well enough to take Pryors spot. Its hard to belive he couldnt do conditioning drills because of his wrist.
Earlier in the season, I think i listed Revis as someone I would try to bring back on the basis that he would take a pay cut...today I realized that this team needs to go in a different direction all together. Revis is mailing it in and his play is mediocre. The nice story, coming home type of thing was nice while it lasted, but right now the cap savings far outweigh the benefits of keeping Revis on the team next year. It was a good run, sucks that he couldn't win a ring with us, but it's time to look in a younger/better/cheaper direction.
Gilchrist sucks, don't let the two picks fool you. He's the one calling the defense on the field. You know... the defense that blames their terrible play on communication every game?
Rhodes played center field until he realized he wasn't going to be the preferred safety calling secondary plays. The he went out into left field and sulked like the prima donna fag he is because Rex didn't see him as an elite defender. And now he's out of the league.
Cosigning. Rhodes was all cover ability combined with no tackling ability. Surprisingly, Rhodes was a good safety blitzer, could get to the qb. Speed, no power ( or just afraid to use his shoulders to tackle). Not a good comparison of Pryor who is the exact opposite in safety play style. Pryor lays the boom but can't cover for shiit.
I would not want to depend on Revis to be the last man to make the tackle. Sometime after his knee industry Revis decided he doesn't want to tackle anymore. Revis pulls up now, he shy's away from tackling now. Would not make a good safety.
Anyone defending revis is not watching the games 9 yard cushion , gentle slow Back pedal. Running like a bitch Missing tackles Fuck him his career IMO is tainted forever Lazy ass Selfish typical u know what Jerry Rice played for stats at the end, but he worked his ass off - and never came to camp out of shape! Fuck you DA rellle Take your cash and go away
Yes, Pryor is an athlete, but let's be real here, he played WR for 1 year in college and is a mid round rookie.. this isnt Calvin Johnson here. At this point in time, he is in the lower tier of #1 WRs and if Revis is getting torched by him, there is no defending his play
Revis still knows how to wrap up a player from the ankles. Gilchrist and Pryor throw a crackback trying to knock the ball lose and occasionally it sends the player to the ground. Revis may fail at FS but he will probably still be a better option than the two current failures we have at S.
