He does hold onto the ball too long but really he only ever played in Morningwood's system which required him to hold onto the ball and was complicated. square peg, round hole.

Its possible Geno Smith is a boneheaded POS who holds onto the ball too long. Its also possible that in a system closer to what he played in college where he is out of the shotgun most of the time with 4 and 5 wide, he gets past those issues. We're gonna find out either way. And I think its important to find out.

Really nothing to lose anyway its not like the Jets are going to the playoffs. Give Geno Smith a couple weeks to confirm or deny that he is a terrible QB and then work in the young guys later. This way by the end of the year at least there will be less question marks.

I hope so. To be honest, I do not want Hack or Petty learning a new offense. Let's hope for the best.

Geno had that problem since college. It's the clock in his head, it's too slow. I am glad we are going to find out what Geno Smith is truly made up, but I will be much more excited to see Petty play after the BYE [keeping fingers crossed].

The Jets 2016 season has officially NOT changed in any way for the better with Geno starting. If anything dare I say it could be worse. Geno Smith sucks and anyone with a brain knows that. He is also not the future of this team. Wasting time starting him is only benefitting another team as Geno will be traded or cut soon enough. He will only serve to keep this team dysfunctional or even make them worse this season.

What is also very evident is toilet Bowles is an incompetent moron. Starting Geno when everyone and their brother already knows he SUCKS and that will never change. The CS needs to find out what they have for their future at QB. Their future is Bryce Petty and Christian Hackenberg.

settle down dude. the season's over what does it matter if Geno Smith makes the team worse. All it would mean is a better draft pick and closer to starting the people you want in Petty & Hack.

They are on a short week. You don't throw one of them (Petty/Hack) out there for their 1st ever start when the team doesn't even start practicing until Wednesday. That would be a great way to screw up their development.

They got 10 games left. plenty of time to let Geno Smith flop and then work in the young guys when its more appropriate.

diggs is actually pretty dam good and even though they didn't pan out as expected patterson and johnson were 1st round picks and very speedy. Rudolph is a very good pass catching TE. They don't have the best group but it is solid.

I expect Geno to get sacked 5+ times and fumble at least one of those. The blame will be put on the same o-line that Fitz, for all his troubles - and he had many, made look better than they are.

Curious to see if Geno throws 3INTS does Bowles switch to Petty next week or mid-game. Probably goes to Fitz if Geno plays horribly and then next week, Petty?

I imagine we'll see Geno for at least another 2-3 weeks at the minimum

Oh, I'm fine. I have just never been as confident as I am currently that this can only end badly. This means a much harder season for Jets fans to endure IMO. If it was toilet Bowles plan to go to Geno after benching Fitz, then what was the point in making the switch in the first place?

Ryan Fitzpatrick is a better QB than Geno Smith will ever be. Geno has far better athletic talent but he is dumber than dirt. Fitz is a very intelligent guy and a true leader, but severely limited athletically. Either way, BOTH are not suited to be starters in the NFL.

But this is only delaying what apparently toilet Bowles is not smart enough to understand. That is that Geno sucks as bad or probably a little worse than Fitz. What toilet Bowles needs to see is what Bryce Petty has to offer. He is the future of this franchise. Geno Smith is nothing more than lingering trash from the John Idzik regime.

LOL.... Petty has looked like hot garbage his entire time with the Jets.... OTA's, TC, etc.... he has had a few good moments this pre-season and yet some of you are ready to anoint him as the savior? Anyone even remotely thinking about playing Hackenburg is just lost in a fog of desperate hope, which I kind of understand. My money is that Hackenburg never starts more than 20 games in the league. EVER..... worst pick I have ever seen. IMO, the hope is that Geno plays well, he is signed to a very cap friendly number and told he needs to compete for the job next year vs Petty, and then the search is on for the QB of the future. Because right now that QB is not on the roster.

Petty looked really good in the preseason. When the hell else did he play? He got hurt. He can actually throw the ball down the field, unlike Fitz and played confidently because he learned the system. You have zero idea whether these guys are going to be good, so stop the criticism. How many people in the league thought Prescott would be any good? What round was HE drafted in? How about Kurt Warner? Brady? Stop acting like you know something no-one else does. The Jets are trying to bring the young guys along the right way. How did Hackenberg look his first drive? Maybe those plays were scripted and he wasn't comfortable with the other plays yet.

i don't know about that Scippy...

sure looked to me like Petty outplayed Geno this preseason.
if he doesn't hurt his shoulder in the last game, i don't think Geno is even on the roster.

What a stupid and assumptive post. Who ever posted that Bryce Petty was the savior of this team? Please find where I posted it and I will admit to it. Until then keep it zipped before you embarrass yourself.

And if you honestly think that Geno Smith is ANY sort of solution then you are delusional or dumber than Geno..........

It is not hindsight if you have been saying long before they even signed him.

Signing Fitz for 6-8 million would not have been a mistake, caving in and paying him 12 million was a mistake.

If you read my post, I clearly state that the QB of the future is not on this roster including Geno - yes, that is my opinion. But I have based it off what I have seen in games and read on reports of play during camps. And honestly..... does anyone these days REALLY take anything they see in pre-season seriously? Other than dufus Rex, teams and coaches don't try to "win" in the pre-season. The goal is to shake the rust off your starters, without having injuries, which is primary concern #1. Then to see who is going to compete for the back up spots. Vanilla scheme's galore.... most jobs are actually won during camp practices. You have such a blind hardon for ****ing on Geno though, that it distorts your views. I'm not going to defend any Qb on this roster. In fact, Fitzpatrick probably doesn't deserve as much criticism as he is getting (just threw up in my mouth) because the whole team looks disjointed. But for as much **** as you spew on Geno, how come he was able to win 8 games his rookie year with what might be the worst set of skill players in the last 30 years? How come the savior's Petty or Hackenburg can't beat out Fitz or Geno? IMO, Petty and Geno are interchangeable. Their ceilings are probably about the same. Fitz is the wealthiest, over the hill, journeyman QB in NFL history and Hackenburg is a lost cause......Sorry that I don't have any "hope" for the QB's on this roster.

I spew shit about Geno and every bit of it is TRUE. He is a POS and you'd better get used to it. He's also so fucking stupid it's no wonder hasn't shit on the floor. I say these things because this guy has done NOTHING to:

    1) Earn the players respect

    2) Be a leader

If he had done either of those things you would not see Geno getting bitch slapped or his teammates lining up in droves to support Ryan Fitzpatrick and not him. And before you get angry with me, just remember that the above bullets are prerequisites to being a starting NFL QB. The only reason why Geno gets disrespected is because he EARNED it......

We didn't cave at all. we offered him a 3 year deal 12 mil, 10 mil, 8 mil 3 years 30 mil overall 12 mil in 2016. Fitz wanted 3 years at 12 mil a year every year. We always intended to pay him 12 mil this season, it was 2017 and 2018 that was the hold up. Luckily enough since fitz "bet on himself" now we aren't on the hook for a dime after the 12 million. Fitz cost himself 18 mil by trying to earn another 6 mil, we paid him exactly what we always intended to this year. The jets won, mac did a good job, fitz gambled and lost
