Fair. I wasn't against us re-signing him, just was mad that he dragged it out knowing he had no other suiters.
Sad. After all the noise during the off season to get fitz this happens. Sent from my KFASWI using Tapatalk
That's the job of an agent. Basically the Jets were bidding against themselves. The team was desperate to get him in camp, so they basically caved. Looking back on it, signing him wasn't a mistake, but the Jets find themselves in the position that they didn't want to be. Geno is the starter. So, basically this whole ordeal was a big waste of time.
We should base it on his performance in those 4 weeks, not just by record. The rest of this team isn't playing well either, so it's totally possible for him to play well and the team still come out with an L
Even if Geno plays well, I think the Jets need to turn to Petty at some point to see what they have in him.
We didn't have a horrible gameplan against the Bengals or the Chiefs in my opinion. It was a lack of execution and big plays. You really don't think Geno could've pushed the ball down the field to a Robby Anderson or Peake? I've seen Geno play bad, but never like Fitz against the Chiefs. Geno does fold I agree, but so does Fitzpatrick. He has been doing that all this season as well and he hasn't taken many hits.
Geno throws the ball very well deep down the middle of the field. I don't think I've ever really seen him complete a ball to a streaking receiver or a fade down the sideline. He doesn't throw outside well as that's where most of his picks come.
How can you still say it wasn't a mistake? It wasn't like 99% of people were all excited and on board with the decision to bring back Fitz There was a large amount of Jet fans that argued all summer about who Fitz really is as a QB and how he's going to be exposed with the early schedule It didn't come out of nowhere, the Jets simply made the WRONG decision Just own it
If the Jets had not signed Fitz. and they had gotten off poorly, actually the schedule made that likely, we would be hearing from posters and the media that they made a mistake. This way they really have nothing to say. This has become a transition year and at least they will find out if they have a QB on the roster. With the NFL rules of today you can not win without a top one.
Actually the majority of Smith's mistakes have been short passes in the middle that were boneheaded decisions. He can make good throws to the sideline. This throw to Decker against GB on the sideline for example is a big time NFL throw http://www.nfl.com/videos/nfl-game-...ecker-29-yard-touchdown-catch-from-Geno-Smith
And thats whats so aggravating about him. You can make a cut up of plays that would lead you to believe he was the next Montana and at the same time make a cut up that makes you wonder how he even played college ball.
Lost in all this is how shitty Chan Gailey is as well. We used to mock Buffalo for years for the fact that they had Gailey and Fitz, and yet both suddenly became better in Jets fans eyes when they became Jets. Both suck and hopefully both will be gone next year.
no doubt about that. The funny thing is that Smith is not even the only QB on the roster that is like that. Many people have said the same about Hackenberg
Geno holds onto the football longer then any QB in the league and normally he makes a decision 2 or 3 seconds too late. It maybe due to how slow he goes through his progressions. That's why I want to see Hack play because Hack can already scan the field quickly, but his fundamentals need major retooling.
The Dolphins were out of the playoffs, finished 6-10 and had been playing out the string for the last 6 weeks of the season, where they gave up an average of 32 points per game: Miami games: L Denver 39-36 W Jets 16-13 L Ravens 28-13 L NE 41-13 W Minn 37-35 L Jets 37-24 The Jets were losing until almost the end of the 3rd quarter when they tied. It makes sense that Geno would put up numbers in the last 15 min of the last game of the season against a team out of the playoffs with a bad defense. But even then, he still had a fumble for a turnover. He's only had 6 games in his entire career without a turnover. Ron
I am look warm on hack. Seeing him thrive in the pro set has me optimistic but i am wondering if gailey is the right o.c. for him.
Resigning Fitz wasn't a mistake, getting boxed into a corner with no other option was. I don't think anybody was fundamentally against bring Fitz back at the right price. He played hardball, and we caved. It didn't help that guys like Marshall and Decker were undermining Mac in the negotiating process. A take it or leave it deal should have been offered before Hoyer signed with Chicago. I'm not saying things would have been drastically different with Hoyer over Fitz (other than cap space), but as soon as Hoyer signed we lost all leverage other than "We can go with Geno." Fitz lost his starting job to Hoyer in Houston, and that was our only negotiating leverage in the offseason. I was a proponent of signing Hoyer & lowering our offer to Fitz and/or letting him walk.
