I mean its only for 1 year...We thankfully lucked out Fitz took the 1 year deal.

Gives the Jets a chance to look at someone else. Get ready for Kirk Cousins and Tony Romo talk

Every poster who advocated the resigning of Fitz. should own up to it and take a week off.

well last year he did play like a top 10 QB and broke pretty much every jets single season record.
And geno again showed why he couldn't be trusted with the starting job fumbling and throwing an INT on his only drive.
We don't know if Petty is even healthy enough to play yet. I'd guess no as he was in street clothes yesterday,
So that leaves us with hack.

Not really much we can do now but going into the offseason its guaranteed fitz and geno are gone. so we are elft with petty and hack competing. we could try and bring in a veteran. Romo might get released with the way dak is playing. he makes too much to be a backup. Keenum could be available if goff is ready, Bridgewater could be available as the vikings could stick with bradford of course that's if bridgewater is healthy.
and then there is the draft, where 2 QBs are projected to go top 5 but really only us and Cleveland are looking to draft a QB high from what I see right now. Maybe the bears, niners, or saints might. As it stands the browns have the top pick, us the niners and bears are tied after that (so is carolina but they aren't drafting a QB)

Oh please, if he was playing like last year, would everyone own up and say they were wrong for wanting him to come back? plus we still wouldn't be better then 1-5 with geno in anyway

Yes, those hallowed NYJs passing records. The envy of the league.

His history is clear. He can play above his head for a short time, but the moment he gets a bank deposit, he puts his feet up I the couch and acts like he has not a worry in the world.

His ability is obvious. But it gets obscured when you surround him with talent.

His mistakes are predictable and look practically purposeful sometimes. Proof that a Harvard education doesn't translate to the football field.

Fitz will never be anything but a really good backup QB who can play well enough to fool stupid teams, and stupid fans by extension.

except he didn't get paid. he tried to and instead settled on a 1 year prove it wasn't a fluke deal. he's lower paid then every starting QB in the league who isn't on a rookie deal. 12 mil isn't a lot when the top QBs are making over 20 mil a year. Fitz making 12 mil is equal to skrine making 8 mil which is about half the top paid. Hell romo is making 17 mil to sit on the sideline and watch dak lead his team to victory every week.

This fucking exagerration and overblowing of the Geno fumble yesterday is getting ridiculous - we didn't lose the ball.

Guess who has fumbled in EVERY fucking game this year (5 so far) until last night - FITZ, and I would argue that shovel pass, we got lucky it wasn't called a fumble because it hit a player before the ball was moving forward and his arm was more like going sideways.

lol tuck rule man. don't be nitpicky. We all agree fitz is playing like ass. but geno didn't look any better and TBH it's a moot point as it's clear both geno and fitz will be gone next season. Fitz will likely retire and geno will land as a backup somewhere

Geno hit receivers in stride. Something I've never seen Fitz do. He looked a lot better.

  12. Hopefully this is the year of the QB. But don't discount Chicago,San Diego,San Fran,

Also..keep an eye on Mr. Luck in Indy. If they really struggle & keep getting him killed they could be headed for a divorce. They gave him that massive deal & despite the horrid surrounding cast especially up front...they might be tempted to cut bait, trade him for picks & draft a new QB top 5. Irsay is a radical progressive guy. It's not as far fetched as it seems. Luck is really the only guy I'd want via trade. Everyone else including Romo,Brees & Rivers are just short term solutions.

As for the college guys..suscribe to the Jimmy Johnson method:

Step 1: Find the guy you like
Step 2: Find the precise yet realistic spot to land him
    Step 3: Make it happen

I I like how Mac at least has established a prototype of what the team is looking for in a signal caller. Petty & Hack are similar in qualities though obviously at far different points in their development. This should provide the team w. a great control point of which to compare the guys in this coming class. I tend to wait till season's end before taking a good look at QBs. Too many variables. This class is surely not lacking in talent however & that is cautiously exciting.

Easy to say hard to prove. Own up if you wanted Fitz. to return. You and management were wrong.

I guess this thread is still up and going which is weird. Fitzpatrick is underdelivering but he's not the biggest problem on the team. The biggest problems on the team are the secondary and the really really bad coaching. If you told me the season would be over at 1-5 at the beginning of the year I would have 100% said we should still sign Fitzpatrick on that deal. But right now Petty needs to see starter time, and that's going to be on the coaching to make it happen

lol again please. our secondary getting burnt , no pressure on the QB, inability to stop underneath throws, no run game the problems on our team this season are more then just fitz. a lot is coaching and bad play calling as well as injuries and under performing players

In hindsight resigning Fitz was a mistake. This team and coaching staff isn't good enough to contend without an elite QB, so Fitz wasn't worth it. If we had the top 5 defense and good coaching I thought we were going to have, it would have been different.

No one wins consistently without a top QB. A few exceptions but not enough to mention. The rules unfortunately are too QB friendly. Makes the league boring.

Geno starts this week so lets see if the chemistry is off or if we are on to something.
