If you bench or when you bench fitz you go with Petty invest in the future. Sorry seen Geno and been there he was out performed in the pre-season by Petty and Geno will not be back next yr
he is in the last year of his contract and a qb..if they had any intention of keeping him they would have given him at least a 1 year extension before the season started.
this is beyond stupid. there was no reason to extend him past this year and no reason for him to agree to an extention.
I wanted Fitz back but it's time. I don't really care which QB they go with but they need to find a spark to get this team heading the right direction. It's not all the QB's fault, the team has been flawed in pretty much every area, but they need a lightning rod at this point. Bowles seems too conservative to try it though.
Fitz isn't getting benched this year period. It doesn't matter how many picks he throws or how many games we lose. Mac and Bowles are both all in on Fitz so unless he gets hurt, he's playing. You don't bench $12mil and Bowles will avoid a Qb controversy even at the risk of losing 10 or more games.

Well, its not like we haven't seen this movie before. We already know how it ends too. Don't know about you, but after all these years, I've gotten used to it. That's why I'm a fan, but not a fanatic anymore.

I hear ya C, that's why I have been luke warm on mac. I wonder what would happen if a coach were to come in and go 4-12ish the first year and built from there. I always feel like we get such a bump off the first year of a coach they become victims of their own success and then panic trying to live up to too high expectations the first year set. its like we never get it right chronologically.
I am starting to think that the conventional thinking is backwards. People want to give Fitz a couple more games because we still have time to turn things around. Why throw the season away by starting one of the young guys this early? That is what I have read here again and again. The idea that Fitz gives us the best chance to win so we must be giving up by benching him may have sounded good to me last year but now with three recent high draft picks sitting on the bench I think the only way we can succeed is to start one of them and let them take their shot. If nothing else, benching Fitz proves to the rest of the team that they must compete and take their game up a notch because no one's job is safe. We have tolerated failure and mediocrity for too long, bench the beard!
And that is why Bowles is a loser and he is on borrowed time here. If this team doesn't win 4 games, he's toast IMO.
Come to the dark side Fitz has been bad in his own right but he's far from the only issue to be fair Regardless...you're correct that changing QBs can give a spark that nothing else can do and we obviously need it
More high profile and higher paid QBs have been benched before man Fitz is a never was journeyman on a one year deal If they refuse to bench him for the reasons you listed I would be in favor of cleaning house because that's just dumb as hell all around
I don't know if it would honestly make a hell of a lot of difference. If Geno ends up starting they will have about as much faith in Fitz as we do. It would be great if Bryce Petty gets some playing time by the time we totally implode.
Its not as if we don't know what Fitz is,,,,,,,,,we are all pretty much in agreement that Fitz cannot bring this team back if we are down 2 or 3 scores,,,its possible but unlikely , now here comes Monday nights game and we are down by 14 at the half or even worse in the 3rd qtr , I would bring Geno or if healthy Petty in to give the team a spark and so might many of you BUT the coach won't ! WHY ? I don't know either but if the above does happen and we fall to 1 and 5 and they don't make changes at the qb and other positions,,,,get the torches, pitch forks and banners ready!
