Can't liken it to baseball.. They traded their players for prospects. No one is giving up draft picks to get our players unless you're trading one of the DL guys

I don't remember if Woody has even contacted, much less interviewed an experienced HC, but if so, one of the reasons that the Jets have not hired an experienced HC during Woody's ownership of the team is that perhaps none of them want to work for Woody and with the horrible GMs we've had. Maybe rookies looking for their first HC gig are the only ones who would take the job.

Only names that came to mind are Mike Tice and that idiot Bills HC that left them right before Rex.

Mac can only sign from among the FAs available, and they have to want to play here. He tried to sign the top two OGs available and they didn't want to live/play on the East Coast. He's probably made some mistakes, but he's certainly done a hell of a lot better than any other GM this team has had in decades. Saying that he needs to go is idiotic.

He made great trades to bring in Marshall and Clady, has added some excellent young prospects in Robby Anderson, Peake, Jalin Marshall, Lee, Burris, Lachlan Edwards, Jenkins, Lawrence Thomas, and added some players like Forte, Henderson, Carter, and now ASJ that are helping this team.

Definitely! They'll still have a chunk of dead money on the cap but will save $7-$8 million on the cap.

Not that those names inspire much confidence. As much as I'd hate another defensive coach, I would love the Jets to bring in Lovie Smith. Hes a guy that seems to understand the game.

The Jets are what their record says they are. You have to beat the teams on your schedule. You can't blame their record on the schedule. That's a lame excuse.

Revis seriously needs to take a pay cut next year. Not a restructure. A pay cut. Mac needs to go to him and say the team is looking towards the future and if you want to play here, you need we need to truly free up some cap.

Revis clearly wants to remain a Jet as he likes this area and I think he has media aspirations after he retires. They can negotiate in the middle, as I don't see Revis wanting to hit the open market anymore because he won't make nearly as much money as he does now. If he refuses then simply cut him or trade him for something. Maybe Rex and the Bills will take his awful contract and no, I'm not afraid of facing him in the division.

It wasn't fitzy's fault that Drops Marshall kills our drives. It was the coaching staff who lost this one by their lame ass playcalling on both sides of the ball. Who was your choice for QB?

    Nothing is fitzy's fault right?

Get real, he's terrible and offers no hope for us

Revis only looks out for himself. He would gladly take 9 million and be cut. He's not changing his deal for shit. He's a thief.

If I were Macc then I would definitely have an emergency plan in my desk at this point. This team hasn't shown enough of spark to go .500 much less make the playoffs. Regardless of the current coaching staff, he has to make some quick decisions. Which players to build
around for the long haul? And who to cut outright. Trades are rare in the NFL but we already have an aging core of player and can only hope
to get younger. The future QB is probably fixed in his mind but after the last few weeks but Macc has other priorities as well. I swear, there is never anything tangible with this franchise other than failed expectations and more disappointments.

We aren't going 8-3 from here unless Decker gets fit, the OL gets better, the DL remembers how to get the opposition QB and the secondary, well, becomes sort of competent. Oh, and the whole organization remembers that games have two halves.

Yes, you can make some allowances for the schedule, but they aren't playing like a team that is capable of going 8-3 from here even against a weak schedule.

Look no further than recent drafts. 8 of the last 10 1st round selections have been on the defensive side of the ball. The offense has been the red headed stepchild in a league where 10-3 defensive slugfests are a thing of the past. Put garbage in, get garbage out. You can only make chicken salad out of chicken shit for so long.

Cleaning up the salary cap isn't that hard n 2017.. easy solutions such as extending Clady and Mangold will free up 10m . Make Revis take a restructured deal or eat the pain with a june 1st nominated cut. Trade Richardson for a 2nd and 4th .

That will free approx 20m of cap and isn't whole unrealistic..

Further cuts are Giacomini for circa 5m , restructure or cut Gilchrist as he isn't worth his 5.7m cap number based on our dismal play.

The come the hard ones Marshall and Decker will be a joint 16m on cap...would we dangle one as trade bait to a) free up the cap and b) promote the youth movement we have at WR.

Thus cap position is hardly dismal but hard decisions need t be made on some vets like the Pats have done it's all about cutting adrift at right time. As much as love Mangold do we cut ties at 9m and plug in a serviceable option like Wesley Johnson and actually draft oline ,.

One thing Mac will earn his money this year..

That needs to be a substantial paycut. Never wanted Revis back in the first place. Cut him and don't bring him back. He's no leader, and he's been slacking since he's been here.

I agree with this. Revis has been living off his rep for quite a few years now. Now that Revis Island has become Revis Resorts with luxury hotels and weekly trips from Royal Carribean, he's not worth his cap number. Not even close. Either he takes the monster pay cut or he gets cut. No in between here..
