Count the number of guys who've improved this year (e.g. Enunwa) against the number of guys who've regressed (e.g. Pryor). Add to that the number of guys who are currently getting by on their rep (Wilk), others who are turning out to be overrated (e.g. Mauldin) along with no less a high draft slot than the 2nd round that has year-after-year-after year contributed nothing to this team and it translates to a team that's mid-level at best. One other thing: the most important position being manned by a woman's arm.
I can tell everyone with confidence that the Jets will not lose next Sunday. Now, Monday, well that's another story.
I think this is a slight overreaction. The Bengals, Chiefs, Seahawks and Steelers are all playoff teams. The Seahawks and Steelers in particular could definitely make Super Bowl runs. The Jets are not as good as they are CLEARLY. The Chiefs are tough to play at Arrowhead, and Fitz's 6 INT did not help. They clearly blew Week 1's game, despite outplaying the Bengals. So yeah, the Jets are (1-4). The Season is far from over though. 11 games left. Most if not all are winnable. The problem is the Jets likely won't. I see an (8-8) finish if things go pretty well. (10-6) if things go great and (5-11) if it is a complete failure. The franchise definitely has questions to ask though.
I just hope the FO/CS realizes this. It really is past the point of Geno vs. Fitz. It doesn't matter who's taking snaps as there is no chance of this team making the playoffs. Sadly, it may come down to keeping butts in the seats than the good of the team. In that scenario, Fitz continues to start, the team continues to lose, and the excuses continue to flow.
That's what I was going to add to your earlier post about continuity to attract HC candidates - certain guys u back the Brinks truck up for and worry about appearances later. Money always trumps appearance. By nature I am a very patient person - but the sample size with Bowles, for me, is enough to not like his game planning, lack of adjustments, decision making as the game is unfolding and an overall feeling of malaise that's setting in with this team. Not saying a coach has to be raving lunatic on the sideline, but his, "too cool, I got this" demeanor is getting old quick.
My bet is that Geno plays around week 10 and plays well then the Jets sign him to a 1 year 12 million dollar deal.
Worst part of this is you just know after we're out of it we're gonna start winning and end up without a top 5 draft pick for this mess
I hope Petty gets healthy soon. I'd love to see him get 4-5 starts (assuming the season keeps on this path). Fitz isn't the answer. Geno isn't the answer. Hack is nowhere near ready. Maybe Petty is a diamond in the rough. Wishful thinking....sure. Been waiting for a franchise QB since I started watching the team (as far back as I can remember). Has to happen some day, right?
Yes and they clearly are not. That is the disappointing part for sure. Just saying the Jets are not a true (1-4) bad team. The schedule has definitely contributed. They are not a good team either though.
vs an atrocious looking Cards team vs a rookie w/ a bum thumb vs Case Keenum We got hosed by our schedule, just sucks we are already out of it without playing any of the easier games.
Its not over we will win enough games for "Playoff Scenario"threads and to get a shit draft pick.I still see us finishing 9-7
