I read this article talking about why NFL TV ratings are down. I don't really agree with all of it, but I didn't even know ratings were down. It didn't really bring up the concussion issues, but is it possible that is contributing? If so, what can the NFL do to combat that? Certainly an interesting topic.
Despite what the media tells us there are still a lot of patriotic people in this country; who understand the sacrifices our military has made to protect our liberty. I think the national anthem protests have driven a chunk of those people away.
Because there's too much standing around with too little actual football being played. Reduce the 40 second play clock to 30 seconds, same as it was until the late '80s. More plays = more action.
How about some parity? 1/3 of the NFL teams are already out of the play-offs in the first week of October. Who wants to watch (unless it's your team winning) a 45-3 prime time game? With so few good QB's available, the league rules still favor the air assault, if you don't have a QB, your team is not going anywhere. Then there's the "protest" aspect of it. I don't really give two shits what these guys do on their own time, but I don't have to watch them do it, or support the teams who allow it. I'll watch my Jets, but I don't watch any other games anymore.
Apparently people hate America so they refuse to watch people stand (or kneel) for their rights. Because human rights don't matter to these "fans". I moved to South Jersey. I can no longer watch the teams I want to watch. Most Sundays at 1pm, it's Philly or nothing else. Nothing else is a better option. I won't watch Cleveland games because they'll probably lose most games. The Patriots will win most games until Brady and Belichick are gone. Packers will be dominant. Etc. etc. There's very little ups and downs. It's the same shit every single year. We have a league who doesn't care about brain damaged players. Players take nasty headshots and they don't get removed from the game. Certain players get babied more than others. We're sick of blatant cheating going on unpunished. Over a decade of this bullshit from the Patriots and it's constantly covered up. Players beating their significant others and getting practically non-existent punishments. Players smoke some weed and get suspended an entire season. Mandatory "random" piss tests only take place from sometime in the middle of the Spring to the end of the pre-season so players can do whatever drugs they want all season. They have their pink bullshit in October to pretend they give a single shit about breast cancer. Only a small fraction of NFL pink gear profit goes towards cancer research. But hey, they are wearing pink so they can claim they are doing something charitable! Stop showing favoritism towards certain teams. Teams with big name players constantly get away with all sorts of penalties to protect the players.
Mark Cuban, the outspokenDallas Mavericks owner, predicts a drastic decline in the NFL's popularity over the next decade due to the league's greed. "I think the NFL is 10 years away from an implosion," Cuban said Sunday evening when his pregame conversation with reporters, which covered a broad range of topics, swayed toward football. "I'm just telling you: Pigs get fat, hogs get slaughtered. And they're getting hoggy. "Just watch. Pigs get fat, hogs get slaughtered. When you try to take it too far, people turn the other way. I'm just telling you, when you've got a good thing and you get greedy, it always, always, always, always, always turns on you. That's rule No. 1 of business." I don't think the krappernick/national anthem stuff has anything to do with it. Its just because they held a Presidential debate during one of the primetime games and we've had a such a small sample size that that is making a difference (10% overall). We'll see where the ratings are in late Nov/Dec. I wish the NFL would take a big hit because I think the league needs big changes but it won't
Ha I'm I good old south jersey too. Gotta watch streams usual to see the jets. Sent from my SM-N930V using Tapatalk
Since this was obviously a backhanded swipe at me I'll play. Joined the Marines in 2003. Taught in bootcamp the only thing that mattered was the guidon or flag. If the guidon fell every Marine in the platoon was to dive on the deck to raise the flag back up. The only thing that mattered was the flag. This was something for us to rally around, to defend, to protect. You have your right to protest and dishonor the flag. I think your protest is misdirected toward a symbol that represents unity; and during a short time where we honor those who have sacrificed and continue to sacrafice to protect it.
You nailed it. What parity are we talking about? It is always Pats, Broncos, Steelers, Ravens on the AFC and I could care less about NFC. It is a QB league and I didn't watch much football besides the Jets and this week, if Jets shit the bed again, I will close the TV in the half and don't watch another game rest of the day.
Why show unity with a country who is systematically discriminating against a large portion of its citizens? Sent from my SM-G930P using Tapatalk
I love 97.5 the fanatic tho. Im not even gonna lie. I call in all the time. Especially on general knowledge Wednesday Sent from my SM-N930V using Tapatalk
I used to attend Rowan University back in the day so I was able to listen to the The Fanatic. Found it more tolerable then NY Radio. NY Radio always seems to have some stupid bickering argument and they go off topic.
I definitely agree there. Thats actually how i ended up listening to it myself. Was searching for a good ny sports radio channel to stream from my phone and just couldnt stand it. So i turned it on and it wasnt bad at all. I like that they keep the radio lines open all show, and they definitely remember everyone too. Im in vineland, so im at the very end of the stations range lol. Sent from my SM-N930V using Tapatalk
