I've made plenty of valid criticisms of Revis, but your argument is that of a jilted fan and it employs very little logic. You're like the bizarro zace. No objectivity whatsoever.
We wasted money on Darrelle Revis? If he weren't considered as being arguably (one of) the greatest coverage cornerbacks of All-Time he would've never earned those contracts from multiple G.M's. No? Wasted draft picks because of #24? We wouldn't have Sheldon Richardson as of today without the Buccaneers wanting to trade for his greatness. Now would we? Has A.J Green been "wasting" Cincinnati's money? Has Dez Bryant been "wasting" the Cowboys money? Has Luke Kuechly been "wasting" Carolina's money? Has Julio Jones been "wasting" Atlanta's money? Has Tyrann Mathieu been "wasting" Arizona's money? Has David DeCastro been "wasting" Pittsburgh's money? Has Justin Houston been "wasting" K.C's money? These were just to name a few. If you feel and/or believe Revis is the only non-QB making mega money you're either extremely naive or you've lost your damn mind. What about Wilkerson? As the 2nd highest paid DE (behind only J.J Watt) is he currently a waste of the Jets money? Maybe we should just (simply) release the likes of and/or refuse to pay the likes of Revis, Wilkerson, Fitzpatrick, Marshall, Decker, Clady, Mangold and Harris? Is that what you want? To be a fan of a Franchise who doesn't pay it's star players? Would you rather watch the Jets then as a team who can't win 3-4 games per season? Maybe our owner & G.M should save our cap space, refuse to pay big name players & field mediocre teams every offseason. Maybe our secondary would've been awesome without Revis last year while paying Dee Milliner, Dexter McDougle, Buster Skrine, Marcus Williams & Antonio Cromartie. I mean, #24's just a waste of money like every big name NFL star. Am I getting this right yet? Heck I guess Barry Sanders & Dan Marino wasted Detroit & Miami's money all those years. They ain't never won their franchises jack shit. Just a bunch of wasted money these All-Time greats are, huh?
Dude he's ripping us off man. So is Fitz. These are bad guys. How do I know this? I read a few tweets, duh. They're both ass.
So because other players in the league that play well get paid well, it justifies us paying Revis for playing like ass this season? Sent from my SM-G930P using Tapatalk
We're only two games into the season but yet critics decide to not only ignore the facts that not only has Revis been arguably the greatest NFL coverage corner for our Jets franchise but just last year made the Pro Bowl as a top tier corner due to ranking 1st against the pass in regards to QB completion percentage/WR catch % against, rated 3rd amongst all NFL CB's with only a 56.6 QB Rating against while completely forgetting how Antonio Cromartie and Buster Skrine each gave up over 700 yards through the air (a piece), allowed a combined 10 TD's against along with a whopping QB Rating against of over 100.0. The Jets don't even win 6-7 games without Revis in that busted secondary with Williams having inexperience. We wouldn't have even made the postseason without Revis let alone consecutive AFC Championship games. But yet not even as recent as last year means absolutely nothing to these sharks within the waters? If last year meant nothing Fitzpatrick wouldn't be here today. Cromartie would still be a Jet. Enunwa wouldn't be getting an opportunity and neither would the likes of Winters or Skrine. We would've kept Pace & Demario Davis rather than drafting Jenkins & Lee. If only last season means "nothing" Zac Stacy would still be our KR rather than Jalin Marshall and Ryan Quiqley would still be our punter instead of drafting Edwards during the 7th round. But appearantely last season means nothing to these so called geniuses. And it's mind boggling to see people harp all over Revis due to a fluke deep bomb during Buffalo's 1st pass play of the game but yet refuse to acknowledge that Revis completely shut down both Goodwin & Watkins throughout the rest of the night. Crickets in that regard. They'll harp over 1 snap but can't say a peep regarding the other 49 snaps Revis was on the field.
If a QB was to 10 TDs and 30 INT this season with and 55% completion percentage, would you care that he went 30 TDS, 10 INT, and 70% last year? Hell yea you'd care. Sent from my SM-G930P using Tapatalk
I'll use my first post to ask a question. Obviously nothing in the past matters except for these 2 games this year which you have implied... If Revis comes back this year and produces amazing games throughout, will you eat these remarks? Not a Revis lover or hater, like him because he's home grown.
How could a QB possibly throw 10 TD's & 30 INT's only two games into the season? You see what I just did there? Also, Revis ended up having an outstanding game @ Buffalo. What did Goodwin & Watkins end up doing against Revis after Buffalo's 1st passing play of the night? That's right. Crickets; absolutely nothing. Although blind critics were too butthurt (over Buffalo's 1st passing play) to comphrend that Revis bounced back to the tune of an excellent game within coverage on both Watkins & Goodwin from there on out. But don't let the facts get in the way.
It would have been nice if he had a better tackle to prevent the last Bills TD, but it would have been tough for him to stop a downhill RB solo. He did rebound nicely after the long TD. Reading this debate, the guy is a Revis hater... Bringing up the past while saying the past doesn't apply.... Then creating an analogy of a 16 game season comparing it to 2 games. Don't waste your key strokes.
Two games is too few to conclude that Revis is washed up. But if he continues to give up big plays regularly, then his contract is a rip-off no matter what he did last year. Everyone happy now?
The problem here is that it's not two games, it's a full season plus two games (with the Jets). He's not playing to his strengths, and hasn't since he came back to this team. Even when he played off receivers earlier in his career, he was physical and disrupted the receiver's route. Some want to write it off to coaching, but I don't think it's that simple. He had his highest INT total last year while having one of his worst seasons. I don't think that's a coinkydink.
Revis was very good last season. Not sure if he was worth 17M, but it isn't fair to complain about 2 bad games while ignoring the 15 good ones. As for his style, I saw what you're saying, but as long as the results are there I don't care how he plays. Last year they were there (except against Hopkins and Watkins), and I hope he rebounds this year. Otherwise yeah, we're getting ripped off.
Revis had a much better statistical season last year than I think he deserved, mainly by his reputation, and not that many QBs targeted him. This season, a lot of teams have tape on the way he is playing and I don't think it's going to pan out quite so well. They're just not afraid of him anymore, and for good reason. Unless he starts jamming again, he's either going to switch to FS for a rebirth (Woodson and Woodson style) or he's done, because that backpedal is gone.
We'll see. IMO Bowles should make Revis jam the other teams top receiver and use Gilchrist to make sure Revis doesn't get beaten over the top. If the DL is as good as advertised, we should get enough pressure without blitzing that we can get away with extra guys in coverage.
Just stop your bull shit. It's getting old. Watkins is not even playing this week now due to that injury. Watkins was nothing but a decoy basically playing on one leg but you're too much of a homer to see that.
