Fitzpatrick signed on Wednesday, July 27, the day players arrived. The first practice was on Thursday, July 28, so Fitz didn't miss any TC. He did miss OTAs and mini-camp, and evidently that had an impact on him, and possibly did Revis as well.

First, Miles is not a rookie. Second, I'm not sure it was a mistake by him. Someone has to come up and stop Taylor if he's tucking the ball and running. I just think it was a good play by Taylor and Salas to get open. Sometimes the opponents make good plays too.

We'll have to agree to disagree on this one.

It was a good play by Salas and Taylor, but if it was Miles' assignment to cover Salas man-to-man, then it was not a good play by Miles imo. You're right that he's not a rookie, and he should know better, even if he is an in-the box type of safety. I would think that any DB who makes it to the NFL should know that you don't leave your man. Taylor still had a long way to go before he was anywhere near where Salas and Miles were, and other Jets would have had the opportunity to tackle him.

I'm aware Miles is not a rookie, that's why I used those quotation marks. Because it was a mistake you'd expect from a rookie, not a second year guy. Sometimes nuances are lost over these two-dimensional text editors. :)

And for @NCJetsfan , I'm pretty sure they were in cover 2, not man. Which is why it was such a glaring error. But I don't know everything, either.

I think you're right. I believe Bowles alluded to it in the post game presser also.

Stanford allowed Taylor to get outside also.

So there were two fundamental breakdowns on that play by two role players.

You can't do that shit. It's simple shit that has to be remembered and executed

You may be right about the coverage. Either way, it was a glaring mistake that can't happen again.

I have been a strong critic of Fitz, but I have to give him credit for his performance last night. While I agree with zace, I think the better teams will easily game plan to counter Fitz's strength [the back shoulder throws]. We will never see Fitz hit a deep receiver in stride without the receiver having to stop or slow down for the ball. That is what will ultimately cost us in the end. Expect up and down games as we go. Power to you Fitz! Go JETS

This is what Fitz always does.

Fitz is good the first half of the season.

It's at the end of the season when his noodle is tired and it gets cold and windy.

    That's when he falls apart.

    I've seen this movie before.

    You're wrong.

Last year Fitzpatrick played tremendous during 5 of our final 6 games. The Jets went 5-1 and outside of Buffalo's game Fitzpatrick was down right outstanding throughout 5 of our final 6 games.

Week 17's awful showing doesn't change the fact that Fitzpatrick balled out during games 11, 12, 13, 14 & 15.

I'm not sure which "Fitzpatrick movie" you watched, but judging from your post above; it most certainly wasn't last year.

I am usually typing between calls so I apologize. At the end of the day Fitz is who he is which so happens to be the best Jets QB since Favre/Pennington and seems to be a good fit for this team this year. He keeps playing like he did yesterday he may be back.

Favre didn't get the Jets into the playoffs and if Fitz doesn't, he won't be back either

    That's contingent upon Petty's development, I figure.

I wasn't a big fan of the Favre acquisition. I thought he was spent by the time NYJ got him. That said, he did take a 4-12 team to 9-7. If he could remember one thing: "Throw the ball to the guys wearing the same color!" it probably could have been even better. And he did beat the Pats. :)

Isn't it obvious? Fitz stole Powell's PEDs. Now Powell is nowhere to be seen but Fitz is beasting.

Forget the numbers... you hit it on the head when you said he kept leading scoring drives each time when buffallo got a score or took the lead. that was awesome
