Unfortunately the Revis we need is back in 09 and 10. If that was the player we had with this DL then we could be looking at something special. However until that damn time machine is invented we have to put up with the bloated contract for a player that once was 'The Best'
he was bad but this is a bit premature. time to let him play the wr2 and let a cb and safety double the wr1
should have brought back cromartie, better than any other cb other than revis(and that's a tossup) we have.
Coaches respond to the players and cater to their strengths and weaknesses and Revis could not be trusted to allow Green to go past 10 yards for fear of a big play happening, the coaching staff were probably at least expecting Revis to make his open field tackles and not give up a couple more yards though. They did the same vs Watkins last year and we will see it again this Thursday. Revis does not have the speed anymore so he's a short to intermediate cornerback but the problem is games like this he is even struggling in that regard which makes him a huge liability. Smarts can only mean so much. Revis will once again play off Watkins 5-7 yards for the fear of the big play and you just gtota hope either Tyrod Taylor misses the throws, Rex and Roman ignore Revis(Which they should not) or Revis can actually make the open field tackle and not let his WR break out of it for additional yards.
Watkins dominated Revis Week 17 enough for Revis to duck reporters after the game and Tyrod Taylor botched a TD throw at Metlife on that Thursday night affair. Watkins outplayed Revis last year, Revis can't handle the fast agile WRs. He's going solely off of football IQ to try and be in the right place but that's not going to get it done in 2016.
Revis didnt play on him exclusively. You keep assuming revis only covers the number 1, he doesnt anymore. He hasnt in years. Watkins stats with on him were significantly lower. Go to the thread last season. Revis didnt play bad today. This was coaching. Sent from my SM-N930V using Tapatalk
We'd all better hope Revis makes adjustments because the tape of this game will be out to every team we play this year. Especially the ones with all-pro Wr's. God help us if we play a team that has 2 all pro Wr's. We'll get blown out.
As for Revis as I mentioned in another thread, if you watch how hw plays the whole game, he is not playing press. I assume with the comment made before the game about doing things different this year, he was asked to play different. This is not his normal style, he did not jam anyone. As for Skrine, we all new he was a nickel. He should only play as a nickel where he belongs. As for Williams, he is young and needs more time. That was obvious in this game... Trash our lbs is kinda ridiculous. Mauldin got a sack and played well.. Jenkins (our other starter on outside) did not play. Lee played decent but need more time. On a whole they helped stop the run pretty effectively.
You may wanna rewatch that game and come back and comment again. Revis was absolutely abused that entire game. I think you may of been referring to the first game.
The Bengals saw that the Jets couldn't cover those quick screen passes and exploited the shit out of it all day. So f'in annoying watching them complete the same damn pass again and again.
The Jets were terrified of getting beat deep. Just opened up the underneath game. This is only the beginning as the Bengals found a way to neutralize our pass rush with quick passes. Other teams will copy and we'd better hope Rodgers and Bowles can counter or its gonna be a long year.
The honeymoon is over for Bowels,,,,,why on earth are we all watching Revis be abused by Green ? Yeah there were blown assignments but the guy had 180 yards why was Revis in single coverage ? Did these guys not learn a thing from last year see Hopkins and Watkins abusing Revis ! Still learning on the job coach ? Ps this was a revamped receiving corps,,,,Jones gone ,Sanu gone and thank god Eiffert was out ! Make someone else beat you NOT they're best player !
You guys have it right calling out the secondary. The front 7 put up 6 sacks... They can't do it alone. Losing Pryor hurt, but the secondary looked out gunned long before he was injured.
Pryor came back didn't he? Anyway, every QB in the league has been throwing at Revis for the last two years, he just isn't the same player or even close that he once was.
