Maybe the wrong thread, but do the Jets have any responsibility to Robinson? He was injured in their employ. Seems terribly unjust if he is simply kicked to the kerb. But maybe thats not the case. Just wondering.

Chances are 1-3 of the TEs will be dropped and replaced by Martin or other players - they will need a little time to see what they got. These 4 guys may not all stick either

He was waived injured so if unclaimed he goes on IR - the Jets can leave him there for the season or have 5-7 days to agree an injury settlement - given they knew the leg was broken and initially kept him IMO this means he will see out the season on IR

Jets must give him an injury settlement if he clears waivers. I believe when you drop an injured player this is SOP, unless they want to put him on IR.

Gotta say I'm a bit mystified about having 4 TEs on the roster. I'm hoping there is a very sound rationale and/or strategy behind this and I'm just too blind or stupid to see it. Can somebody please explain what might be some plausible reasons for keeping 4 TEs? Outside the devil we already know, can anyone tell me something about Bowman and/or Parker? Are any of them recognized as having great hands or being excellent blockers? I did see Bostick make a nice catch and during one of the preseason games and he appears to run quite well also but I know virtually nothing about these recent additions and was hoping someone here could educate me about one or more of them as well as help me understand what the CS/FO's thinking or plan might be in carrying not only 4 TEs but these 4 TEs as well. I find it particularly confusing in light of my belief that this move may have been at the expense of losing some more valuable prospects with greater future upside.

For the most part, almost everything this regime has done thus far this year has made pretty good sense. The surprise about Robinson caught me off balance too as I had no idea he broke his leg again. Was this fact (is it a fact?) common knowledge? Are they just saying he has a broken/injured leg so they can stash him on IR as an insurance policy?

Load 'em up and weed 'em out.

Give it time. Maybe it's an attempt to get better there, and improve upon Kellen F. Davis......Not only on O but on ST's too. KFD sucks there too.

Once a team has finalized their 10 man practice squad roster, does the NFL rule book allow any given team to cut/release/waive one or more of any such player(s) and replace them with a like number at any time during the course of the regular season?

    WOW!!! Who saw that coming?!?!?!?!?!

  11. It's either this...OR....the following...

They recognize their woes at both TE as well as OT. Rather than just try to "coach them up" like perhaps they did last year..they're going to throw numbers at the problem & mix/match based on opponent early until they find something that works. In other words....we could see a different starting RT/TE every week depending on the game plan & match-up.

You're neither blind, nor stupid, my friend.

Gailey has come up with a new 4 TE offensive set with one back in the backfield, or maybe since none of them are that good, they're going to go with numbers instead (quantity instead of quality). ;)

Seriously, as someone suggested, I expect that they'll only wind up keeping probably 2 of them. They had to put the 4 new additions on the roster. I can't remember if they have to stay there all season or not. I think they used to, but the rule may have changed. If so, then they probably want to see what the new kids can do and then they'll decide who to cut.

I had thought the new DB from the Pats must have been a CB, but now with the cut of Martin, I'm thinking he may be a S. Do you know?

Yes players can and do come and go on the PS all season long (unless the rules have changed).

I'm pretty sure they can be cut ... its guys who are signed from other teams practice squads that have to stay on the roster

Tks. Keeping my fingers crossed we're able to keep Morris, Martin and Worthy on the PS.

it won't be 4 TE's for much longer. they need to assess the new guys.

one sounds like an Hback, and the other a true TE.
if they don't impress they'll be cut. if they do, Hosware, Bostick and/or Davis could be released.

    tough break for Ronald Martin.
after winning the S competition, and with Bailey released, he had to be feeling ok being one of only four safeties.

I'm surprised we cut down to 3 Safeties on the roster.
good possibility Martin ends up returning.
