I think it depends on what Petty shows in tc/pre season..... If he out plays Geno, than Geno should be gone, if Geno outplays Petty, than Pettys gotta go....
Thats not happening. All accounts are petty didn't look great at otas. Sent from my SM-N920V using Tapatalk
He wasn't serious about retiring. He was playing a negotiating card. If he was serious he would have said 16 mil or i am retiring. He will either play well enough to command a 2-3 year deal with 25 guaranteed or the jets will move on. There's very little in between
I didn't read that at all anywhere. While they said he's not strugglomg like last year, he still has a long way to go. Hes a 4th rounder who didnt play in a pro offense. I think fans are rushing him toa place hes not at yet. Its ok hes not there yet. I dont want him playing yet, let him sit more. Sent from my SM-N920V using Tapatalk
The article says exactly what i said. Signs of improving but no where near ready. Its fine tho. I dont expect him to be off the roster. Let him learn. Sent from my SM-N920V using Tapatalk
Yeah. I am thinking Petty. If he shows something in camp maybe. Buy it's obvious Hack is the future. I'd still like to see what Petty can do in exhibition.
Petty will be the odd man out if they only keep three QBs. However, i'm thinking all of your prognostications will be thrown out of the window when Geno totally out plays Fitz in the preseason.
Petty would be first to get cut. Geno would be first to get traded (assuming Petty or Hack is ready for backup duty, which is a slim chance IMO).
Yeah, it is pretty simple. Fitz is the 1, Hack is the 3, so the 2 is either Geno (with experience and ability) or Petty (no experience, unsure ability) so it would seem Petty would be gone. I don't want to give up on him yet though, so we will see what the Jets decide.
I see it as Fitz is the 1, Geno is the 2, and Hack & Petty are the F (future). Neither will see the field during the regular season. They'll both have the entire year to develop, and their competitiveness will come into greater focus next season.
That is true, but can you take up 2 spots on a 53 man roster for 2 "Future" spots? I don't think so, thus the problem of who stays/goes comes into play.
He could have had countless good receivers and reached for a 6th round talent in the 3rd round. Still hate Idzik.
You absolutely can do that when those two can play pivotal roles in the future of the franchise. Sent from my KIW-L24 using Tapatalk
Geno was not drafted by this GM and Petty was. They even traded up to get Petty, and knew he would be a project. Smith will not be on the team next season, so look for the Jets to trade him when the first team loses a #1 or #2 QB. Fitz is the starter this year and they plan on Hackenberg being the starter next year or at the latest in 2017 with Petty as his backup. Geno is not a starting QB or by any stretch of the imagination a team leader. You don't trade up for a QB in the draft and let him go after one season, so Petty is safe, unless he is just so terrible they are willing to admit he was a mistake. Smith will be traded or released by opening game, unless one of the other QBs get "hurt" and they can put them on IR.
