I think we all hope he ends up a little better than Bryan Thomas

Bowles is trying to create that Steelers-esque pipeline of outside linebackers he's eluded to before. Everything I read about Jenkins and his scouting reports reminds me a lot of Calvin Pace. He'll likely never been an elite pass rusher but a good run defender with the ability to set the edge for the inside backers to clean up on top of compiling some decent sack numbers.

For as much of a mess as our offense is going to be in a year or two, the defense is shaping up nicely for the long term. The next player we need to worry about holding on to is Pryor.

Hearing Richardson talk about the D this past weekend and it's really clear that being able to play the run set edge as rush linebacker is really important. Especially since we ask these guys to do so much, not to mention we don't have traditional 3-4 ends. Wilkerson and Richardon are capable of reaching double digit sacks and Williams is a good pass rusher as well. We probably don't need a 1st round pick as a pass rusher it's not like Mauldin or Jenkins will ever see double teams.

I thought Jenkins was the better pass rusher of the two LBS from Georgia.

He was underrated in the draft, I had a first round grade on Jenkins. I was pissed we didn't take him in the second, was beyond surprised we still managed to snag him in the third.

He doesn't remind me of Calvin Pace either. Jenkins is more exposive, better hands, and a better athlete.

    IMO

Yeah, Jordan Jenkins back to the draft, was looking at Georgia games and he always stood out for me in comparison to Floyd. I was hoping we would get him in the 2nd round as well. I think he's a better version of Bryan Thomas, someone who excels at everything but he won't be an elite level pass-rusher. Jack of all trades as they say. He's going to be a lifetime Jet.

He and Mo would be great teammates especially IMO, because they share a specific skill-set. The skill-set to make those around them better.

Eh, I mean I feel like you're thinking of the Calvin Pace we've seen the past three or so years. You might be correct in him being a better athlete, but Calvin Pace always had a solid first step, and was able to dispatch his blocker at the point of attack using his length and his hands well to rid the blocker. Maybe Jenkins uses his hands better in pass rushing situations.

I too thought Floyd was incredibly overrated. I hate the idea of drafting players more so on their athleticism than what they displayed on the field. That's not to say he wasn't a three year starter that produced, but he seems like he'll get bullied at the point of attack in the NFL with that long lanky frame he has.

If anyone can turn him into a player though, it's John Fox in Chicago.

Yeah, and I'm grateful for that. Gives me a little faith, like it did last year before he was kissing the floor.

I think Jenkins is our best pick in the 2016 draft. Day one starter and anchor for the next 7-10 years. His short area quickness and explosion is great. Some say he's not a great pass rusher but he will get enough to be dangerous and accounted for. That will free up others.

So was David Clowney and Brett Ratliff. I've learned to dismiss OTA's and maybe even training camp because coaches already know who is making the team. Barring injuries of course.

True, someone excelling in OTAs/mini camps/training camp is no guarantee they will excel when it counts, but rarely does a player suck during those times then shine when it counts.

So rather than picking players that shine during OTAs, we should probably pick players that suck during OTAa and get them off the team ASAP!

I'm saying the all suck during OTA's and coaches know they suck and put them in so that they can keep the stars fresh and healthy. How many low level players the Jets bring through OTA's stay the entire season, make a contribution and returns. You get it now?
