    I can't even.

    It's become too preposterous.

Dudes who never saw him play a down in college have watched a few videos and tutorials and have become experts on him since birth. And unabashed apologists rife with excuses that can easily be explained away.

    With other folk's opinions.

how can the media make comments about the jets draft choices.when the are only playing practice football.hackenberg looks like a winner to me.the jets linebacker corp will blossom this season.they are loaded with good players..the jets must sign free agent l.g. an r.o,t. to show improvement./only time will tell if I am right

You mean RG & RT. Carpenter has the LG spot nailed down. I wouldn't hold my breath on either happening. The Jets have little cap space. They can create space to re-sign Fitz, but I imagine that will be it.

at this point any kid who is trying to get to the next level is most certainly getting some kind of help. there is too much money in it for them not to. even if they don't have the money to pay for it there is going to be a specialist out there who sees the writing on the wall and the fact that if they train joe blow and he goes to state that they will be able to use that to say hey you want to go to state come train with me just like joe blow did.

people are out there begging kids with potential to work with them. I cant in any way shape or form believe that a guy like hackenberg hasn't worked hundreds and hundreds of hours on fundamentals. is it possible? sure it is. but I am not going to sit here and say hey all those things he doesn't do well at age 21 are going to get fixed here at the highest level of football.

and the guy went to fork union military academy. check out there wiki page and tell me looking at their alumni if its just a bunch of boobs down there coaching. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fork_Union_Military_Academy#FUMA_Athletics

there are 49 notable alumni for football. most of those being nfl players.

    Fair points.

That said, no one was talking about his fundamentals coming out of Fork Union. That's why he was one of the top-ranked QBs, if not players in the nation and was highly recruited. He did very well his freshman year. Then O'Brien left, Franklin arrived with that abomination of an offense and he or his OCs started changing Hack's fundamentals, recruited no quality OL or WRs, and Hack went to shit. He may not have been all that to begin with, or may have gotten screwed up by Franklin, but I think the kid has a chance to become at least a quality starter. I'm not saying that all of Hack's fundamental issues lie at Franklin's and his OCs' feet. Hack has to accept some responsibility.

im cool with that assessment, bad coaching can fuck a kid up or a kid can get off track and a shit coach doesnt fix it. i absolutely agree that him having poor fundies falls at his college coaches feet. even if they were bad for them to not fix it shows that they are not good at their job and is going to make it very very difficult to attract high caliber qbs.

I'm not sure I understand why it's not ok to admit he is not a natural thrower or is naturally inaccurate.

He is big with a big arm and has the measurables to be a prototypical franchise QB.

    If he can be fixed.

You're seeing in shells he's still having trouble consistently executing the simplest of passes with no one around him.

Blame coaching, blame recruiting, blame his line, blame the talent around him, blame his being gun shy, blame everything you want.

He was not good in college. He was not "phenomenal" his freshman year, he simply showed promise for an 18 year old. "Phenomenal" freshman were Winston and Manziel. There have been other outstanding freshman. Hack was not one of them. If you watched him you can't say he was phenomenal.

His next two years were awful. If you watched him play you can't deny it and all the articles excusing his play and all the videos explaining away his inaccuracy are just excuses.

If he can be fixed he could be our answer.

    If he can't?

If he was a natural thrower from childhood and had excellent mechanics coming out of HS--that's 10,000 reps at a minimum--and include his freshman year--which was not great--there is no reason for him to be missing easy throws at this point in his development.

I believe you subscribed to the "pick up a QB in every draft till one hits" dogma.

    Am I wrong?

    100% wrong. Not me, never.

You never take a QB in a draft when all the QBs suck.

You take a QB in a strong QB draft-when there are a plethora of good/great QBs like 2014.

You STRIVE to get a GREAT QB when there is a GREAT one there like 2015.

You don't waste a pick every year to take a crappy QB just to take a QB.

Who would you have rather picked in the 2nd?

It's all a crapshoot more or less.

Rather hit on a QB than anything else.

You've heard the tale of Tom Brady.

Honestly I wanted Tyler Boyd. Saw him a lot, loved him.

Lol the ultimate 1 in a million red herring.

Hey, let's waste a 6th round pick on a crappy QB. Ever heard the tale of Tom Brady?

Why not wait for the UDFAs?

Ever heard the tale of Kurt Warner?

    Am I doing this right?

Regarding the bold, they lost scholarships due to NCAA sanctions for the Sandusky fiasco. It's not like Franklin was doing a poor job recruiting. People have questioned his ability to coach, but most agree that he is a good recruiter.

I certainly see that he is "naturally inaccurate" but I see where he's not a "natural thrower" argument. To me the kid can throw the ball with the best of them. Maybe I need that label explained.

Did they lose ALL of their scholarships or all new ones for players not already on the team? If not, then he failed to recruit quality OL. He may have a reputation as a good recruiter, but if he had scholarships available and failed to recruit quality OL and/or quality WRs, then he did a lousy job recruiting imo.
