some people seem to have a difficult time separating the responsibilities of the FO and the coaching staff. when it comes to Rex bashing, anything that didn't go well in the organization was due to him. anything that did go well was due to someone else..
If I were a GM I would want as much of the coach's input as possible. Imo someone like Mac that has recruiting experience is more likely to trust his own gut though as opposed to a paper pusher like Tannenbaum. Why would you think that a guy with no experience evaluating talent would even want to have those responsibilities fall on him if he didn't have a hc there that he trusted to lean on? Draft vs. free agency $ becomes an issue. The coach says who he wants but the GM knows if it's feasible.
It's like the presidency. They say it takes 4 years for the policies they put into place to affect the economy. If Rex did anything at all after his first 2 years or proved that he was good at evaluating talent then he would get credit... And a job with the Jets. The Bills were 9-7 before Rex and 8-8 last year (see the trend). If he makes the playoffs I will apologize and scream what a great coach Rex is. Lucky for me they'll be 6-10 maybe 7-9 next year and I won't have to do any of that.
[Mangini had input] and [Mangini's team] are two different things. You are confusing this. If anything, I don't think Mangini had anywhere near the roster responsibility that Chip Kelly had last year with Eagles. That team was constructed by Terry Bradway. Mangini may have had an input, but ultimately that responsibility falls on Terry's shoulder. [And that's specifically why he's a fuckoff.] Last, but not the least; the top-heavy salary structure was a work of T-Bomb, not Rex. [Extensions, FA pickups and et al.]
what would you say if it turned out that Trump and Clinton are having a wild love affair? I'd say the same thing bc neither are happening.
That they were wrong about trusting Geno to be the starter. TB has already said that if Fitz does not come back Geno is the starter. The defense will be top ten, I doubt the offense will be top ten with Geno as their QB. I hope I'm wrong though, not because I'm a Geno fan, but because I'm a jet fan and I would hate for this team to go backwards with all the talent they have.
