I have to say, I have gained a lot of respect for Jets fans on this board at least, a silver lining for me. All of the fans who understand how bad this pick is, that makes me feel better about being associated with all y'all .... lol. Seriously though, that was a compliment. I'm being serious here too. :D

blowing second round picks is one of the main reasons we have gone half a decade without making the playoffs. "who cares about blowing draft picks" shows a complete lack of understanding of why this team is where its at. thats where you build the core of your team. our oline is in rough shape and it wont get better once mangold is done.

I'm not exactly an expert at evaluating QB talent, so I'll give this kid the benefit of the doubt. The truth is, you really never know. Even QBs that go 1st overall fail often, so the risk is at least less in the 2nd. Still an early pick though, so they must like the kid a lot.

This FO has earned my trust to this point, so I'm on board. Just need to give him ample time to develop and hopefully build the OL around him.

They all seem to improve during workouts. I don't even like Cook, but how can you justify Hack over Cook? I could have lived with Cook- he can be an Andy Dalton level QB to me, hackenberg?

I'm ready to support this guy 110% - if Gailey can fix him, he's an elite level QB that can make all of the throws. I think we get Fitz back and Fitz helps him with the pre-snap work [and everything else] as Hackenberg can read defenses.

So does this mean the coaches aren't high on Petty's progress? You don't spend a 2nd round pick on a QB if you have faith in the one you drafted last year.

well, this regime didnt take geno, but id compare taking hack in round 2 given our desperate need for long term young talent on par with moving up for manziel

According to what crystal ball would he have been a 1st round pick? Watch his last two years in college and get back to me. Just knock it off. He sucks and this was a total abortion of a high draft pick by the Jets brass.

It's the upside. Cook to me is a good prospect with a higher floor but his ceiling isn't where Hackenberg's is, if his head is on straight. It's a reach.
