I will be honest, I know some info about him. -3 year starter -Won 30 games -Good TD/Int ratio -People are concerned about leadership (seems a bit overhyped) -Played in big games -Played in a pro style system -Average at best completion % -inconsistent accuracy How do people feel about him today as a 2nd rd pick? I'm not completely sold, but I thought it could be an interesting pick. So what are your thoughts?
Don't be lame. I'm not on here everyday and me posting this should not be an issue to you. (It's a Message board)
I'd be happy. A lot of people have him rated higher than lynch. Until you have a QB, you need to keep looking. Why not?
It's not an issue to me dude but day two is about to start in half an hour it's a little late to start a whole new thread about him
I like him better than Lynch. If he's available when it's our turn in Round 2, which I doubt, I would take him.
Hackenberg would be my pick over Cook. If Penn State had play makers and an offensive line he would have been the #1 overall pick.
I would greatly prefer him to Hackenberg, from what I have seen. I was just never impressed with Hackenberg at PSU.
Prefer we take an O-Lineman in round 2. Sorry. If you draft Cook, the door is closing on Fitz. The organization isn't willing to do that yet. Macc is walking a very tight rope but won't give up yet.
To be honest, we already have a project QB on the roster (Petty). I'd rather just see him somewhere down the road, unless the Jets are secretly convinced that Petty doesn't have what it takes to develop into "the guy."
I don't like him, but if it's between Cook and Hackenberg, give me Cook anyday of the week. I can live with that pick. There's a chance he becomes a becomes an average startinng QB. I don't Hackenberg even has a chance to be below average-that's how bad he is.
This was my thought too until someone convinced me otherwise by saying "Why not add a QB? We know Geno Smith is not the answer. Fitz has a couple years left at best, why not add a QB? If he or Petty work out, that's great. Worth a shot". I agree with that now. If they don't take a QB I would not mind either though.
I hear you. My retort would be: Because a 2nd round pick is a very valuable asset that might be better spent on any number of other positions (OLB, tackle, guard, safety, TE) with the hope of landing a full-time contributor, than it would be on taking another "shot" at a developmental QB. We already have one of those. Instead, let's get some OL depth, or take a shot at a nice pass-rushing OLB prospect that has fallen, etc.
