Fortunately for me, I've consistently dispelled PFF, so I can continue to dispel them now without being hypocritical.
That's the first thing I thought about after the pick, and said so soon after on here. They have similar qualities also in their makeup. He reminds me of Pryor. Smart, mature, and has an inner confidence. Solid. You can see it. It'll prolly take Lee as much time to get comfortable like Pryor also, but without the obstacles inflicted on Pryor. That's natural tho. Most fans understand that.
I get that the original poster should have been an abortion, but I don't get all the rage about people disagreeing with or not loving the pick. Not everyone is going to like every pick. Just because the Jets picked a guy doesn't mean he's going to be great, obviously. If everyone just came on here and applauded every pick the board would be pretty damn boring this time of year.
Well for one thing if you're going to put him on the field with the other players in the set you change from a 3-4 to a 4-3 or hybrid 4-3 or a nickle 4-2-5 defense base. Which, while not exact, is what Bowles did in Arizona though he did it using Safeties as LB's because of a shortage of LB's...which ironically is what the Jets shortage was in terms of strength. 2nd 2009 defense was different from 2008, the DL was the same but the only LB that was the same was Harris, everyone else was new. and 5 new defensive backs were added, Most impactful being Jim Leonard and Lito Shepard. You remake the back 7 of the defense (though Revis remained on both squads) and you change the complete tenor of that defense, especially at the linebacker level with Bart Scott. So the 2008 and 2009 defensive comparison is somewhat skewed. Secondly there is no doubt that Ryan is a one of the best defensive minds in the game, I just brought up the one weakness in his defensive philosophy, I didn't say he was a bad, or even average defensive coach...I just mentioned he had a flaw. So, to borrow a 70's sit com term....Sit on it.

Agreed. Not a flashy, exciting pick like Lynch would have been, but a solid choice and a good prospect at OLB, a position of need. Good, solid pick for Mac.
I agree with their grade but for completely different reasons. For one I have no idea how they come up with their coverage ratings. The games I saw Lee was mostly dropping back in a zone. It's hard to evaluate his zone coverage skills when no action comes his way. I didn't see too much of him actually covering a man to judge his one on one cover skills. One would think with his speed he should be able to but Davis showed us that's not always a guarantee. Against the run, he's decent as long as he's clean. In our base D, that won't always be the case. That said, I don't think he was drafted for our base D. Despite what Bowles is saying about him developing into a 3 down player, I think he was drafted to play they Buccanon "MoneyBacker" role. Based on his traits, he does appear to be a good fit for that role but I don't believe you use a first round pick to serve a sub package role especially if you are not a deep talent-laden team. Bottom line I like the player but question the fit. For that, I agree with the grade.
