I've slept on it. While I'm not excited about the pick I'm also not disappointed in the pick. But It's clear that he was the best 'pure' LB on the board that didn't have injury concerns.

Evidently Myles Jack's knee is worse than reported publicly, No way he slid out of the first round for any other reason.

If he is still there @ 20 in round 2 absolutely no question.

Knee be damned I can't imagine his slide takes him that far.

I agree with your statement, but Lee's faster and more athletic than Davis by a lot. Also, Bowles can mold Lee into what he wants to see. Davis was pretty much a lost cause when Bowles inherited him

FWIW, I've arrived at the same conclusion. All the stuff about Jack came out so late in the process, I had no clue that his knee was that bad. On the other hand, Lee is both quick and fast, and doesn't have the same knee-falling-apart concerns that either Smith or Jack present. Good value for the pick and it fills a need for Bowles' defense.

With all do respect you talking out of your ass.....Bowles made it clear after the season that he needed to infuse his roster with more speed. Lee ran a blazing 4.47 40-yard dash with the fastest 10-yard split (1.54 seconds) at the Combine. He has safety cover skills, which immediately makes him an asset for a team that lacks a true three-down linebacker.

He can play the nickel now, and he will grow into a three-down linebacker,’’ Bowles said. “He will make us a lot faster, is a good pressure guy and a good cover guy who runs sideline to sideline. We’re going to use him in a lot of different places. We need a guy that can run around.’’

Then I guess we have no choice but to fire Mac and Bowles and make Bobby Slowik our new Head Coach and GM. I'm sure he'll do even better than Parcells!

You can watch the same exact video here

It's 5 minutes, not choppy and you don't have to deal with commentary.

The best part about this thread is the number of people who are dispelling PFF now only to have used in the past or use it later in the future PFF to support a stance…LOL

I guess it is a good pick. For some reason i just think we wiffed. He fills one of the needs we have. I was just a little taken back that we ignored OLB AGAIN...or didn't trade down and get more picks. Then I got Jacked last night when they were saying Paxton Lynch would be a great fit with NY. I was so excited and then see an ILB pick. Some say he may be a nice weapon for our D, i pray. Note for everyone a few years back all the critics were saying Sheldon Richardson was a bad fit and we all know how that turned out.
So i guess tonight is gonna be OL and DB's. I hope.
    Lets go JETS!!!

It's OK not to like a pick. I don't love it. But to say Todd is Rex and he forced Mac to pick Lee is just being a miserable SOJF.

And everyone here knew who Lee was. He was a projected first round pick who was the defensive MVP of the Sugar Bowl. He is not Dexter McDougal.

I would say it's a b-. But focus isnt some crappy write up. Theyre usually pretty on point with their stuff. I think the staff feel they can coach him up and I have no reason to believe they can't. Look at how much better Pryor played.

Calvin Pryor was a heat-seeking missile at Louisville. He occasionally picked the wrong angle of attack and that was the only real criticism leveled at him in the pre-draft process. Then Rex decided to stay with his 2 multi-faceted safeties system and the heat-seeking missile went away because Rex's system doesn't want one of those. Bowles just let Pryor go back to being Pryor and he was an excellent fit in the defense doing what he does best. Lee and Pryor are going to be a treat to watch together. I suspect the Jets defense got better with Lee than it would have with any other player, including a true pass rushing OLB. Hopefully the Jets have an opportunity to add one of those also at some point in the draft but I'm happy with a very mobile piece in the front 7 for now.
