Nothing wrong with a good single. We have a man on base. Pick up Jack, Spence, J. Smith, Dodd, etc. in round two for the home run and two guys cross the plate.

mocks are based on where people think the players would go, not necessarily what the value is. word was the falcons were high on him, and most had them taking him. looking at overall rankings, he wasnt nearly as high as where he was in mocks. and speaking functionally, he is a tweener who is no lock as a 3 down player with big question marks on how he can translate.

he made a living at ohio state making negative plays in the backfield by beating teams between the gaurds. i dont know that he can do that in the nfl. i see bowles using him as a 3rd safety more then a linebacker and utilizing him in passing situations. i think that works, i just dont that you use a first rouder on that

Lol exactly. We won't know how the pick pans out for years. Shit pryor was liked them hated and now liked again. Just typical over reaction, it's going to happen.

This thing about him being some undersized 'dwarf' as someone put it is erroneous. The guys in the NFL now playing that ILB role are all around his size. Stop looking at these role positions through glasses focused on the past.

Look around at the ILB's in the league now. He's right there with most of them size wise. Top guys

And the guy can run. Envision him running around behind the DL with a Pryor being aggressive doing damage

You could see this pick coming over the winter. I could anyway.

yeah, i mean, its not like this is going to be some vernon gholston type bust... i just dont think we can afford to miss out on BPA and long term starting talent. we have so little to build on from prior drafts.

This was a good pick, not a high impact every down player. A speed hybrid player that gives Bowles a lot of flexibilty, and perhaps a guy who can cover RB and speedy TEs for a change. Gives us more options on D. Is he the answer to the pass rusher we need? IMO, no. Still have a couple of chances left to get a high impact every down player....

Bowles said in his press conference that they drafted him to be a three down LB.

Not sure then. Google his name and it says 6-1 218 so I guess we'll call it somewhere in between.

you think a "not high impact every down player" is someone worthy of pick 20?

i agree with everything you said, i just dont view that as worth a first round pick

I'm surprised how so many people thought he was a pass rushing OLB...

He's an ILB in the 3-4 and OLB in the 4-3. Although a little small, that's where he always projected.

He can rush the passer a little but he's gonna be inside for us. Top speed, very good cover guy, good tackler although not great.

I like the pick, we needed speed and we got it.

Yes LB is a need maybe we needed one much bigger than Lee. You are replacing them with a midget. He will get crushed by offensive lineman and we will be right back looking for another linebacker. Hopefully one a little bigger than Lee. Its not all about speed in the NFL look what Denver did to Brady and Newton in the playoffs and SB. The linebackers pushed the pocket and not worry about receivers in the flats. That is the blueprint on beating our biggest rivals.

Speed wasn't his problem. Rez took him when the knock was he had no instincts. That became pretty obvious, fairly quickly too. If you have no instincts, game acumen, you're gonna suck where ever you play regardless of your physical attributes

he is closer to 215-220. he is really small. he is like a safety. he might have gotten up to 225 or 230 for the combine but that isnt sustainable weight. guys is small. he probably should stay that way too as his game is predicated on speed. and bowles will use him in a speed role as a hybrid S/LB. size isnt an issue in the role bowles will use him

31 teams passed on Myles Jack because of his knee yet you whine that we didn't take him. Obviously no concerns when the best player in the draft doesn't go in the first round, nope.

Troubled by his record of missed tackles, but this guy, in theory, seems to be what the team could use at ILB. He won't be forced into action immediately and will get to play behind Harris and Henderson/Carter. I'm confident in this FO/CS so far and can trust that he can be molded into a good player for this team.
