Mark Doninik says that Bill Walsh told him early in his career that you should know if you've found your franchise QB after 16 starts.
I think "Genobot bashers" are way worse than their proclaimed "Genobots" ... I mean.. something i don't like or care for i simply don't speak on. But these "Genobot bashers" wake up trolling people that want to see Geno improve before they ever wipe the crust out of their eyes. There's a thing called agreeing to disagree.. if you don't agree are you really gonna argue with the same peorson for 35 pages??? my god.. Far as I see it HE IS STILL A JET SO PEOPLE ARE GOING TO ROOT FOR HIM TO GET BETTER! Not their fault you "old grumpy jets fans" hate everything about the modern day jets.. go watch a yankees game or something. Hating is the only thing i hate about a hater.
geno has not had three competition free seasons in his first year he competed with sanchez. geno missed most of the pre-season due to an ankle injury and was on his way to losing the competition before sanchez was hurt in his second year he had no competition because they wanted to see if he would improve with more first team reps ... contrary to groupthink, he did improve in a number of areas (albeit, not demonstrably) despite the team around him getting worse in his third year his jaw was broken a few days before the pre-season
The season 1 competition was a farce evident by the fact Sanchez, who was clearly in the lead, was inserted in the 4th quarter of a meaningless pre-season in which he proceeded to get hurt. Season 2 like you said he was handed the job. Season 3 he was named the starter PRIOR to the pre-season. So please explain to me how he did not get 3 competition free seasons?
he competed in his first season ... neither sanchez nor geno took the reigns of that competition, sanchez was winning by default. if sanchez didnt get hurt, he would have been the starter, how is that a farce? the competition didnt even begin in his third year. pre-season is where decisions are made http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/eye-on...b-is-open-competition-geno-smiths-job-to-lose
What does "by default" have to do with anything? If it was a real competition, there's no way you put the guy winning by default or any other method in the 4th quarter of the 3rd preseason game. Also, one guy having "the job to lose" is not a open and fair competition.
Not all of us are old, grumpy, SOJ fans...The league, other teams, and the NFL fans have seen enough to get a grasp for how terrible Geno Smith really is under center. He cannot manage or carry an offense. And just like the Butt-Fumble with Sanchez, Geno will go in history as the guy who lost his job over $600 and getting punched in the face. I am done with this pathetic shit type personalities and players that are supposed to be leaders of the team. Now I can go watch a Yankees game and then do something after...Probably drink some alcohol.
But you keep adding to it? It would seem to me if you had such a high IQ you would stop posting in here. Here a hint from a guy with a small IQ. Stop posting in it.
"by defualt" means that sanchez didnt win the job based on his performance ... in a real competition, you keep putting them out there until one guy earns the spot. sanchez had not earned a thing it wasnt just one guy having the job to lose. those other guys had the opportunity "to take" the job ... up until geno was hurt, none of them gave any reason that they should be getting more starting reps but i can tell that youre going to continue with this narrative so carry on
Geno Smith was in the building very early today. One of the first attendees, I hope he puts in major work. We may need him this season.
Very clear that Geno was immature and probably should have never been starting from day one. Maybe last season helped him, maybe he will never get it, who knows I'm willing to give him a chance to win the starting job....Why is that such a bad thing, to see if he has improved? If he wins the job then goes back to some of his horrible mistakes, then pull him for the vet or Petty....If he doesn't win the job, he's a cheap backup with starting experience that can make some plays for you at the very least Geno will either prove himself or fail himself....no use in naming him the starter or completely writing him off at this point
You should, but it doesn't always work out this way. QBs have come from the fog of uncertainty and have made themselves into franchise QBs. There is almost always an exception to the "rule"
Who else do you have in mind? Geno has proven to be an inconsistent, 0 awareness QB at this juncture, but you can't deny his physical talent and potential for big plays. He will beat Brian Hoyer in a competition, he beat Fitzpatrick in a competition last year. It would come down to Bryce Petty v Geno Smith, and I think I would put my $$$ down on Geno winning that battle.
