L I can understand why the Panthers are favored, the isles offense does not have the same punch as Florida. Even though the islanders have 4 guys that scored 20 plus goals.
Panthers are good but the Isles can beat them,,we will know soon enough ,,,,I have beenneyeyingntix for game 5 in Florida ,,,,,,,we shall see ,,,,enjoy the ride guys
I am going to say Islanders in 6,,,,,I like the fact that Panthers management said before the playoffs that they would rather face The Islanders ,,,,,,not that anyone should need more motivation but I would have those quotes hanging in the locker room ! It's kind of like the Islanders wanting to play the Panthers more than the Penguins just no one on our end was stupid enough to say it out loud or get quoted as such,,,,,On a side note I would feel somewhat better if we were going into the playoffs more healthy than banged up but let's see how this plays out,,,,a split out of the first 2 would be nice but if the Islanders Come out of game one with a win won't that be interesting ? The style of hockey that I want to see is not going to take place with the islanders team, I want to see in your face, shoulder checks against their offensive players when they skate across the offensive zone. I'm talking Scott Stevens against Paul Karia hit. It's the playoffs, I don't want to see dirty hockey, but I do want to see the panthers pay the price in the offensive zone. Whoever on the panthers voiced their desire to play the islanders is correct, they are not a physical team and they have very little offensive weapons. Josh Bailey, Kulemin, Nielsen, prince, Okposo, Brock Nelson, they scare no one in the NHL. They don't even have playoff beards, that's how little testosterone this team has.
Well,,,,dont look now but the Islanders just played pretty gritty game and took game 1 ! Good game for the good guys,,,,,I will take the win ,hopefully we tilt the ice a little more the Panthers way tomorrow night and throw some more shots at them .
Their goalie played stupid good and the islanders could not find the back of the net ,,,,let's see how things go at home,,,,best of 5 now
All of the work was done by the first line yesterday, the second and third line were non existent, Kulemin and Bailey are terrible, Brock Nelson can't carry the second line by himself. It's about depth, the isles don't have it. Luongo made a sick save against Strome who is finally starting to get into a groove. The deepest teams normally progress in playoffs, right now it's the Pens, Caps and maybe Tampa, eventhough they are missing a huge piece.
I still think they can win this series but totally agree that last night it was all the first line. The second line is horrible,,,,the 3 rd line is fast but can they score ? I'm hoping that as the series progresses the speed of these guys gives them an edge,,,,,,,,the Panthers are good but we can beat them,,,if we were playing one of the deeper teams as you mentioned we would lose, I have felt that way for 2 years now and wish 91 had a playmaker with him .Griess played well and giving up 2 goals should have been enough to get us a win but Loungo played great and the save on Strome was just"stupid " good. My gripe on Griess is he must control the rebounds and the Isles defense must keep the panthers out of the slot .
Islanders look very good on offense tonight only a matter of time before they score a few goals,,Tavares is a beast tonight ,,,i just hope we don't let them continue to skate and roam free in our zone without paying the price,,gotta bury these guys,,,start hitting them !down 1 nothing but the goals should come if they continue playing like this .
Greiss has to stop giving up rebounds he must control the puck on the first shot,,,,he could have saved the second goal with an initial glove save,,it was tough but he could have but this 3 rd goal sucked
