Someone must have asked him to take a pay cut.

    My thoughts:

    1. The OP was in such a rush to be the one to break this non-story that he couldn't even be bothered to spell DeVito's name correctly.

    2. Is it really retirement if you had no real thoughts about retiring until it became clear that no one was going to sign you? Isn't that more like just unemployed?

    3. 27.7 tackles and .67 sacks average per year, first ballot HOF baby.

He was a good player for us before the Chiefs stole him.

Lol I hadn't noticed we had the tag "trolls" until now. Matches the OP perfectly. Everyone else says "well-known member" for those wondering what I'm talking about.

Devito was a nice UDFA success story for us.
solid 2 gap run defender who always played hard. Snacks lite...
i wish him well in retirement.

hopefully we can start finding more UDFA's like that.

What really amazes me is that we haven't caught up to the fact yet that 31 is retirement age in the NFL these days. If you retire at 32 or later it is usually a sad retirement following an injury or the fact that you were a mainstay and your team kept paying you through the nose to stay on.

This is partly the CBA that is in place but it's also about the concussions and health repercussions of playing the game. Anybody who has stuck around until 30 has already made enough money and players are getting smarter about not pissing it all away on the first contract or trusting shady agents.
