Hard to make that argument over the last couple months, as Crosby has finally shown up, but I agree over the last 5+ years I would have taken Malkin over him. Now? Obviously have to stick with Sid. My friend is a Penguins fans and we talked about them dealing Malkin today actually. He prefers Malkin over Crosby, but realizes there is no way they'd deal Sid and keep Malkin. With them dominating since his injury, I agree he is likely to be dealt. It has always been this way in Pittsburgh with those 2. They each seem to play better when the other is hurt. Odd.

Agreed, but I hope the Rangers win. I'd really like to play them again after last year's Game 7 heart breaker.

Pens might as well fold the franchise if they trade Crosby. They would def get more in return for him , but they really have no reason to and then bank on Malkin's health.

Even if Malkin was better at his best than Crosby is (I dont think so but I can see how some might) he hasnt been at his best in a longgg time.

Banking on Malkin to stay healthy is risky, but I really don't think he's playing poorly. He's over 1PPG five years in a row. When he plays, he's one of the best players in the NHL. They are doing well without him, but is that because of Malkin? I think its because of the coaching change. I don't know as much as Pens fans, but from watching that team play a lot being a Rangers fan, my opinion has pretty much always been that Malkin is a better player than Crosby when they are both at their best, but he's not as consistent and he has trouble staying healthy. I think they'd be doing just as well if Malkin was healthy and Crosby was injured. There isn't much separating them as hockey players, regardless of who you think is better, and I don't think they should be making a decision based on a few months. If they are to trade Crosby or Malkin, it should be on a lot more than half of a season.

People forget how good Malkin was in 2008-09. That was the best that any of Crosby, Ovechkin or Malkin have played at any point in their careers so far. Malkin was the best player in the NHL in the regular season, and carried them to winning the Stanley Cup. Gretzky, Lemieux and Coffey are the only three players to have scored more in a single playoffs to this point than Malkin had that playoffs. 36 points in 24 games in what remains the only time Crosby has won the Stanley Cup. I think you'd also find that some Penguins fans prefer Malkin. Crosby gets a lot more attention than Malkin from the media, probably because he was made the poster boy of the sport before he even played in the NHL, and Malkin's from Russia. Its usually harder for Russian players to adapt to the NHL than Canadian players. If you look at accomplishments and stats, the awards accomplishments are pretty even, and Crosby has a small advantage in stats, but I think Malkin's best being better than Crosby's best has to be something that is considered.

Tough for me to admit but Crosby the Bitch is better, right now, however if they trade or lose one of these 2 idiots the NHL will make sure they get another superstar

I thought Kleiner should have won the Stephen McDonald award....another gritty effort last night, keep playing like this and it's Panthers in 5

If that's the defense we are playing for round one, I think we might get swept. There's a complete lack of depth. At practice today, no McDonagh and Girardi due to injuries. Zuccarello and Stalberg have maintenance days.

I was happy with the loss though. I didn't want to be in the Metro side of the bracket, and now the Islanders look poised to take the 3rd spot in the Metro.

Vigneault also added that he thinks Dan Girardi, who won't play tomorrow, should be ready for playoffs. McDonagh, not quite.

Rangers survive a 6-on-3 (5-on-3 PP - Wings pulled Jimmy Howard) to win 3-2 and go over 100 points in consecutive season.

Rangers finished the season with 101 points while Long Island has 99 points but have two games in hand. If L.I. gets 3 points out of those two games then they play Pittsburgh - if not then it's Rangers vs. Pitt.

Why was AV challenging the first Detroit goal? Does he want the Metro bracket?

Islanders have to collect 3 or 4 points to kick us into the Atlantic. Sabres tonight and Flyers tomorrow with nothing to play for

I like the Rangers chances more against Florida than Pittsburgh

It's not just Pittsburgh, it's Pittsburgh then Washington, then Tampa/Brooklyn. So the Atlantic looks a whole lot better

Islanders get a point tonight, so everything rides on Islanders / Flyers tomorrow. If Brooklyn wins Rangers play Florida. If they tie or lose we go to Pittsburgh. Pittsburgh is on some stupid 16-1 streak or something like that but their hot goalie got injured today and Fleury's head is vegetable soup. Rangers will be ok offensively but it's the defense that's the problem so Hank will have to bail us out. Whatever, I'll take either team

Did you see Capuano put out the players he recently called up from the AHL for overtime? It was almost conceding a point.

AV and Capuano had very different approaches how to approach these games. AV challenged a call he could've let stand as a goal, and Capuano tried to hand Buffalo an extra point.

wow what a fucking embarrassment the Islanders are, they totally laid down against the Flyers. I'm going to laugh so hard if they get swept by the Panthers
